Prairie Wolf won nicely at Haydock but the profit on the day was pretty much cancelled out by Atakan who never looked happy in the staying chase. That was a surprise that he was that poor given Jim Boyle's record at Haydock on the flat and it was his first jumps runner at the track.
Chepstow 3:15 – Silver In Disguise 15/2 (1pt)
There's not a lot of good races to bet on Thursday but I'm willing to take a chance on Silver In Disguise in the 3m 7f race at Chepstow.
Based on the recent form of Tim Vaughan's horse we could be in a bit of trouble and might seem a bit strange backing this horse but this 10yo won this race two years ago before being disqualified for having a banned substance in his system. However, this race has a lot of question marks hovering over every other horse in the race and given his price at the time of writing I think he is worth a chance.
This season he has shown very little, but his mark has dropped down to 115 and that is only 2lbs above when running in this race 12 months ago. He is proven at the trip and clearly likes the track, the ground isn't a concern, as he did win on the heavy and soft ground earlier into his chase career so we should be okay on that front. These staying distances seem to bring out the best of Silver In Disguise as this time last year he finished 2nd at Perth over 3m 7f on soft ground off a mark of 118 (115 with 3lb claimer on board that day), and running off the same mark today shows that he is capable of going close at the very least but in a race where every horse has something to prove, with all but one showing that they don't stay the trip, he could easily win this if in good form.
Movethechains would be of interest if this race was at Lingfield. For one reason or another, he only seems to perform at Lingfield and even off a decent mark when you take into consideration of the 7lb claimer, he has to be looked past. The others in the race don't look like strong enough stayers and for the ones who have stepped up to a similar distance, they've not looked like stayers.
With only two places on offer, I'll have a bet on the nose, and I think he'll either win or be pulled up, so it's just a straight-win bet for me.

Got his stablemate Hideki in my tracker but looking at the race I’ve noticed this horse just keeps improving,speed figures are up to the class rise. Taking a bit of chance but take a combo forecast for an attempt at cover
