Racing tips: Plenty Of Time can prove to be well treated back against the boys

Safe to say they were not really bothering with The Paddy Pie. He is best going from the front and in a four-runner race why they didn't do that, I'm not sure, other than not fully trying with him. Celtic Art was much weaker in the finish than I thought he would be, the winner returned to form off a reduced mark, but based on his previous runs it didn't seem likely, but the fact they went from the front on him seems like it was on the cards.

Wincanton 2:30 – Plenty Of Time 8/1 (0.5pt EW, WilliamHill 3pl)

There are a couple of decent races at Kempton, but as I've been concentrating on the jumps over the winter months and haven't been keeping in touch with the flat I think it would be a terrible idea to venture over, so it's just the one selection at Wincanton for Wednesday's racing.

My sole bet of the day is the mare who is carrying top weight, Plenty Of Time. It can often be very difficult for mares to go against the males and Plenty Of Time's best form has come against her own sex, but with Elizabeth Gale taking off a very handy 7lbs I think she is more than capable of winning a race against this field. The form she has shown in mares races is definitely the best form on offer, especially the 4th in a listed race over today's course and distance when finishing 9L behind Arclight, and then you had Marsh Wren in second. The form of that race has been boosted as the runner-up (Marsh Wren) has won twice since and was 3rd in the Mares' Novices' Chase at Cheltenham which is a Grade 2. Game For Glory who was pulled up in the Listed race has finished in the places twice and won once since that race, so despite the winner of the race being PU on her next start, the form looks solid.

Plenty Of Time seems to enjoy today's track as she is a dual winner over fences at Wincanton and her win in December against So Said I was a great performance, with her best part of the race coming at the finish when she was pulling away like a fresh horse. The runner-up has won since and Plenty Of Time is only running off a 2lb higher mark than she was for that recent win. Her most recent run at Ludlow wasn't as bad as it looked by being 15L behind the winner as her jumping wasn't anywhere near as good as it has been and she was giving away weight to the first and second, both horses were probably on very good marks as the runner-up has won since and the winner had some decent pieces of form over hurdles off higher marks.
