The Aintree Grand National festival has come to an end, and overall, I can't complain about the form over the three days.
Day one saw us land a treble, day two was a blank (I'm still kicking myself for not advising Conflated EW), and day three saw two N/R, but it didn't matter as we landed a 1-2 in the Grand National, with I Am Maximus winning at 7/1 and Delta Work following him home at 28/1 EW.
It was nice to see those in the comments getting involved and I did notice some nice winners called in there as well. So, with that being said, well done to everyone, and hopefully, you managed to leave the three days with some extra money in your pocket.
Sunday sees us return to some bang-average racing, and I won't be getting involved much with it. I've gone for just the one selection tomorrow and it comes from the meeting at Plumpton in the opener.
Fame and Fun 7/4 – 13:30 Plumpton
Fame and Fun is a little on the short side of things but I'm putting my faith in him to land a quick double over course and distance after a nice display last time out at this very same course.
My selection showed great determination last time out when knuckling down to get the better of I See You Well on the line. The two of them fought it out after breaking 14 lengths clear of the remainder and Fame and Fun managed to just get up in the end by half a length. That was a much-improved performance, as his jumping on previous outings was more on the sketchy end of the spectrum, which resulted in him running well below expectations.
The Paul Nicholls-trained gelding is still lightly raced over obstacles. He's open to improving further, and a 4lb rise in the weights may not be enough to stop him from following up.
Jockey Freddie Gingell takes over from Bryony Frost, who rode him last time out. His 3lb claim negates most of the rise in the weights. Freddie Gingell is a jockey who is improving with each race.
With eight wins and 10 places from 51 rides, he has a respectable strike rate of around 15% when riding for trainer Paul Nicholls.
Well done cairnzy nice to see you getting off to a cracking start hope it continues for you and all those that follow hats off to you can’t knock your efforts so far at all ! If you do to well MFT wil start charging to see your posts soon ?
Cairnzy.
Regarding french racing, I watch as much as I can and try to spot ones for the future as in coming over here.
What I have noticed is that the scouts spot them in their infancy and snap them up before they hit the heights .
Bit like footy scouts identifying talent before they are spotted by others.
A lot don’t pull up any trees in France and are snapped up and suddenly improve.
Hispanic moon was one, and average Joe in France, comes to bromhead and suddenly is mixing it with the best at Cheltenham .
Irish national winner intense raffles another.
Was disappointing in 2022 not winning any of his 5 races, I backed him twice that year ☹️,
Has a year off and reappears in gibney’s yard in Ireland and wins 3/3 including the Irish national.
Their scouts must be shit hot as they see things in a horse day to day mugs like me and dazzman ? don’t see…
Intense raffles must be in the shake up for aintree next year depending on his handicap.
Can see him leading them a merry dance from the front.
I am maximus though will be a tough horse to break down as he could have ran another mile today I reckon.
I would imagine he will be a Gold cup horse next year Elvis and probably to high in the handicap for a repeat in the National.
Am sure JP will have plenty others ??
Given connections I wouldn’t be surprised to see Intense Raffles rock up in the Betfair Chase next year (Bristol De Mai) and will be keeping an eye on the antepost market for a price.
Going to take a chance on El Capitaine 14/1 ew 3.05 Down Royal.
Made his h’cap debut last month having been off for over a year so was entitled to have needed the run.
On his last run prior to that he was 3rd only beaten 4 3/4L by Buddy One (now rated 155) and Harvard Guy (now rated 142). EC was also 6/4 fav that day so is clearly better than what he showed on reappearance. Running off 112 today and upped in trip on his 2nd h’cap run ticks a lot of boxes for me but just incase it will just be a modest ew bet.

Well named horse here
Keeneland -Race 3 …Cameo Performance 11/4 *** Bet365
Found this reading timeform USA and others have mentioned it
Ex Irish horse but US bred costing several thousand bucks, was 2nd on debut at Dundalk to A.Obrien horse Greenfinch after a bad start.
Looking ant Equibase info it was Brendan Walsh who bought him and he has a great record with this type of purchase. Absence to overcome but workouts are very good and Jockey/trainer combination are 75% at Keeneland last 45 days with 3 wins from 4 .?
GL ? ?? ?⚖️

Money came and pi$$ed it! ?
Really should suggested the R/forecast with Greelight with Flavin Prat aboard looking only danger.
No be greedy, just glad I was up early today with nowt to do bar read the fall out from last nights races heading to ‘The Kentucky Derby’
On that note…. ?
ENCINO who I said was overpriced at 8/1 versus my selection The Wine Steward last night ( he went of 2nd Fav) only needs ONE to drop out and he’s in ‘The Kentucky Derby’ and I be amazed if just one doesn’t take his place come May 4th to let Encino in.
