We had no runners on Saturday due to the weather conditions and it was the same old story on Sunday as the meeting at Plumpton was called off.
There are three meetings on Monday but to keep things somewhat safe, I've decided to stick to the AW meeting at Wolverhampton for my two selections on Monday.
Cairnzy's Tips
Sweet Couture 5/1 – Wolverhampton 6.00
I think the current market has the race correct, with the top three in the market looking the most likely winners. With that said, I thought the market leader was far too short in price at 5/4 and was worth taking on in this instance with Sweet Couture who has been threatening to get the ball rolling of late.
Trained by George Boughey, Sweet Couture mains a lightly raced horse having only had three career starts but has improved with each run, in particularly last time out when narrowly going down by half a length to finish third at Kempton last month. The eventual winner of that contest was a horse called Nanny Park from the James Fanshawe yard. Interestingly my selection locked horns with the same horse on her second career start, again finishing behind the selection by a short margin. Given Nanny Park was able to take a step forward and get off the mark, I wouldn't rule out the same scenario happening for Sweet Couture who is open to plenty of improvement.
The Crisford-trained debutante is interesting, and any money down for their runner should be noted given they had a gamble land only a few days ago when Boatswain was backed into favourite ahead of Rizzel's selection Secret Force and won comfortably by over 3L.
Desiderata 6/4 – Wolverhampton 8.30
My last selection on Monday comes in the final race of the evening, so fingers crossed it is worth the wait.
Desiderata broke his maiden a couple of days ago at this same track with a comfortably three-and-a-quarter length victory ahead of an inform sort in Cherry King. My selection won that contest at a huge price of 66/1 but it was hard not to be surprised in the manner in which he won on that occasion.
My selection has to carry a penalty for that recent success but takes a step up in trip which looks well within reach on the back of recent victory. If the quick turnaround poses no serious issues then I think this unexposed sort could be tough to beat against more exposed rivals.
