It was nice to land that winner on Thursday night with Westforth Ceejay going pillar to post, winning at a chunky 3/1, which was much bigger than he really should’ve been. Newinn Trigger ran a decent race in second, while Away Jazz was oh so close to getting to the bend and nipping in front but was instead wiped out.

On Saturday, there’s plenty more evening action to get stuck into, with Premier Greyhound Racing meetings at Hove, Monmore, Central Park, Perry Barr and Romford.

Today’s greyhound tips

Ahead of tonight’s action, I like the look of a couple at Hove, plus one at Perry Barr, though as always, these are odds dependent. Here goes.

Tip 1: Simba Boy (take odds of 2/1+)

Race #2 Hove @ 18:26

The second race on the card at Hove is a sprint of the D3 variety. The striped jacket appeals, running for a trainer who knows how to get his sprinters winning here.

This could be all about the two outside runners, with Trap 5 having won a trial in convincing fashion last time out, but the trick will be for him to repeat that here.

Simba Boy is a little more proven and having bolted up in a D4 recently, he turned in a very respectable effort when finishing third at this level last time out. The winner of that race has since gone on to run strongly for second in a D2, which is not to be ignored.

On the available evidence, there’s not a great deal of early pace on the other side of Trap 5, so if he can clear the orange jacket at the start, the race will be there for the taking. I’ll be betting that he’s the one to take it if odds of at least 2/1 are available when this is priced up.

Tip 2: Ballybrazil Oreo (take odds of 7/4+)

Race #1 Perry Barr @ 19:01

Ahead of the opener at Perry Barr, I very much like the look of Ballybrazil Oreo, who drops in grade and may just have found the perfect opportunity to get the job done.

Successful when last seen in an A2 contest, the bitch in Trap 2 has the early pace to show this lot a clean pair of heels and if she does that, the race may be over before it gets going.

As there’s a distinct lack of early pace out wide and no runner in Trap 6, I make this a bit of a match race between her and Lissan Bro in Trap 1, who can also get out quickly, though it’s the blue jacket that does so on a more consistent basis, while the pair met in an A1 last time out, with Ballybrazil Oreo holding her rival quite comfortably.

On that evidence, Trap 2 gets the nod here and is worth betting on to resume winning ways as long as odds of 7/4 or greater are on offer.

Tip 3: Bregawn Kate (take odds of 2/1+)

Race #6 Hove @ 19:33

Bregawn Kate looks to have a nice opportunity over two bends tonight. As mentioned above, Derek Knight has a decent record with his sprinters at Hove, while the bitch in Trap 2 is no stranger to running well at this level, winning 40% of her D2’s contests at the Sussex venue.

For me, this is going to be a battle between the two inside traps, but I fancy the blue jacket to get to the bend first, which will leave the race at this mercy. The pair both recently raced against winner Solo Rebel, with Bregawn Kate getting much closer. On that evidence, she can take this, and I’ll be betting on her to do so if odds of 2/1 or bigger are available.

Acca bet & other markets to explore

For those who like to play the forecast market, I’d consider going 6 & 5, 2 & 1, 2 & 1, while if multi bets are more up your alley, a treble containing the three dogs above will pay 23.75/1 (using odds of 2/1, 7/4 and 2/1). It is worth remembering that these are the minimum prices to take.
