AFTER giving you my tips for the Turkish Airlines Open earlier I thought I‘d share my thoughts on the action the other side of the Atlantic too.
This week the PGA Tour heads to the punters paradise of Las Vegas, Nevada for the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open.
Before I give you my insight on the tournament, whenever I hear the words LAS VEGAS it brings back painful memories and triggers my nervous twitch. After just reaching the legal gambling age for the Sin City I headed out on a voyage to watch none other than the Last Vegas Desert Classic Darts at the Mandalay Bay…. Or so I thought.
On arrival at my hotel the bright lights drew me in. After 3 hours I was on the phone to my dad pleading for more money (you could hear a pin drop on my return). I had 9.5 days left there.
On the Sunday evening I felt unwell so sought medical advice only to learn that I had been prescribed Oxycodone, the downfall of many Hollywood A-Listers………. I woke up 48 hours later to news of Michael Jackson's death and a message from my bank saying my account was low and missing the darts!
In my opinion the film The Hangover doesn't do it justice. I mean, who hasn't woken up with a big jungle cat next to them, even if it's not of the mammal variety. Anyway enough of that and onto the golf……
Patrick Cantlay 16/1
PATRICK CANTLAY won last year on the 7,255 yard, par 71 course and I'm making him my main selection to do just that again this year, he's an excellent ball striker, can go really low and this was the start of his rise to fame this time last year, it's a super price about a super player so take full advantage.
Joaqin Niemann 66/1
My second selection is the Chilean teenager JOAQIN NIEMANN. Having been a little bit skinnier than this price recently it's now time to get involved again. Yes he hasn't won yet but top 10 finishes at the Valerie, Memorial and Greenbrier hardly make him a nearly man. He will be 20 next week so this will be a perfect birthday present.
Corey Connors 125/1
Finally COREY CONNERS and with a name like that he should probably be in a male strip club but the Canadian can play and he showed that last week at the Sanderson Farms where he challenged right until the end. He can he go close 2 weeks running and I'm prepared to give him a chance.
