Across the pond this week a host off big names including 15 off the top 30 tee off for the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada all competing for the $7M prize money and valuable FedEx points.
The scenic TPC Summerlin has been described as one of America’s best golf courses and is where Tiger Woods had his first professional victory.
Bryson DeChambeau makes his first appearance since winning his first major at Winged Foot and it will be interesting to see how the US Open champion goes about his business on a course he has tamed in the past, winning here in 2018.
Kevin Na won this event for the second time last year beating Patrick Cantlay in a play-off. Cantlay won this event in 2017 and finished runner up in 2018 and 2019 respectively so is definitely one to keep an eye on this year.
Scottie Scheffler
With so many big names in the field I feel a few golfers look overpriced and one of them to consider is Scottie Scheffler. The American has been placed in the top 5 in three of his past four events and looks decent value each-way at 33/1 with Bet365.
Colin Morikawa to beat Sungjae Im
My NAP is Colin Morikawa to beat Sungjae Im in a 72 hole match bet at 10/11 (Bet365). In 31 events since Morinkawa turned pro he has won three times including a major and been runner up twice while being involved in the place money on a few other occasions.
He has already won an event in Nevada and has bought a house near Summerlin making it his base. All this points to what I expect to be a comfortable win in the 72 hole match bet over Im and I will also be keeping an eye on him to be at least placed in the Top 10 come Sunday.
Louis Oosthuizen
Another to consider is my Nap at Winged Foot, Louis Oosthuizen, who returns to his first event since finishing 3rd at the US Open.
The South African has hit his A-game recently and again I think is definitely overpriced only because of higher ranked players in the field. The former Open Champ has finished inside the top 15 in both strokes gained from tee to green and his driving swing and accuracy looks so impressive, a combination that should again put him in the mix once again this week.
