LAST week we hit the bar with our three selections. First up was Lucas Bjerregaard who finished tied 11th just outside the top 10 but finished the week in the top 50 in the World.
Second selection was Haotong Li who finished tied 5th to land a each0way bet at 16/1 and a top-10 finish at 15/8.
Our third selection was Louis Oosthuizen who was leading coming down the final stretch but three dropped shots in the last 4 holes let in Lee Westwood. But third place paid 14/1 for the each-way bet and 13/8 for a top-10 finish. So a good profit overall.
DP World Tour Championship
This week the year long race to Dubai comes to a conclusion with the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai with most of the top European golfers taking part. The two favourites are Rory McIlroy and Sergio Garcia but after last week's performances when Rory once again failed to keep his ball on the short grass and Sergio blowing a final day lead they appear to be of little value.
The season long race to Dubai is a two-horse race with Francesco Molinari leading Tommy Fleetwood and he should hold off the charge of the Englishman.
I think the European Ryder Cup players will have a good weekend where big-hitting accuracy from the tee and plenty of birdie chances are the order of the day. My three for this week all played in the Ryder Cup.
Jon Rahm
First up is defending champion Jon Rahm who loves these desert course (both here and Pheonix in the States). He drives it a country mile and when on a roll can have a very hot putter.
A five under par last round of 67 last year won him this tournament last year by one shot. Confidence is sure to be high following his defeat of Tiger Woods at the Ryder Cup.
Thorbjorn Olesen
Second up is Thorbjorn Olesen. The Dane had an impressive Sunday victory in the Ryder Cup when thrashing Jordan Speith and has continued that fine form with back-to-back top 10 finishes in China and Turkey.
He's sure to be full of confidence and will go close.
Tyrrell Hatton
Third up is Tyrrell Hatton who drives the ball for miles, is very accurate and on his day is a potential birdie machine. Again loves the desert and is probably the form horse there. Sure to go well.
