It’s tacos, tortillas and tequila on the menu this week as the PGA Tour goes all Mexican with the World Wide Technologies Championship at Mayakoba  El Camaleon Golf Club, Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

The 132 field with the top 65 including ties making it to the weekend will all be competing for a share of the $8.2 M prize purse with the winner collecting the World Wide Technologies Championship title and a winner's cheque for a cool $1.3M.

Before I continue I want to thank each and every one of you for all the kind messages, DM’s, likes, and new followers.

After picking out yet another winner at the weekend in the shape of Irishman Seamus Power at a recommended 25/1, it’s now a dozen outright winners for us this year including two majors.

Don’t forget about all the nearly and could have been this year either with far too many Each Ways to mention. The Caddy was absolutely delighted for Seamus bagging his second PGA crown at the Bermuda Championship on Sunday in tricky weather conditions that I said would suit and also for all winners who collected at a handsome 25/1. Well done to everyone who took advantage and as always I’m just so happy and glad I can help.

I’m looking for at least one more outright winner before close of play but time is quickly running out with only a few tournaments left on this year's golfing, calendar, hopefully, we can double up this weekend . Once again thank you kindly and on that note let’s get back to the golf preview.

El Camaleon will be playing 7,034 yards long this week, it’s a par 71 parkland layout where the key to success will involve driving accuracy and precision irons along with a hot putter for those many birdie opportunities. Expect another low-scoring affair this time around at Mayakoba.

Victor Hovland doesn’t just return to defend last year's title, he’s won the last three editions of this event. The talented and likeable Norwegian kid smashed the course record in 2021 with a winning scorecard reading 261,-23.

The weather is forecast to be rainy on Thursday and Friday but it’s expected to clear up over the weekend with warm, and sunny conditions. Breezes will peak at around 10mph.

This event will be screened on Sky Sports Golf & Sky Sports Main Event with live coverage starting at 7 pm on Thursday evening.

So let’s move on with this week's betting tips for the World Wide Technologies Championship at Mayakoba.

Viktor Hovland 11/1 EW Bet365

For my first and main selection at El Camaleon, I’m going to look no further than the three-time defending Champion, Viktor Hovland 11/1 EW Bet365.

It’s near impossible to ignore the young 25yrs old Norwegian from Oslo this week having won the last three editions and it would come as no surprise from this direction if he makes it a fourth on Sunday evening.

The World No 11 has eight Top 10 finishes this year with seven of those inside the Top 5 including a victory when scooping the Dubai Desert Classic over on the DP World Tour. Hovland will be eyeing up the W again this week on a track he clearly adores to claim his first PGA title this year and that’s the incentive right there if you ask me. Hovland will arrive at El Camaleon with all the tools in the bag and more importantly, a map with the detailed winning formula, maybe even three.

On the stats front theirs a whole host of figures to suggest it could be Hovlands year at Mayakoba yet again. On the PGA Tour this year he ranks 20th in Scrambling, 18th in Total Putting, 18th Scoring Average, 11th in Driving Distance, 10th SG Around the Green, 7th in Scoring Average and 1st Scrambling from the Fringe.

Do you notice a trend? That’s all stats inside the Top 20 or better. You know I’m always on the hunt for value but my job is to pick winners so regardless of the price, I can’t ever allow that to put me off when doing my homework. This week all the figures add up to yet another winning formula for Victor Hovland to successfully defend his crown for the fourth time in succession, this is a future Hall of Famer.

Aaron Wise 20/1 EW BetVictor

For my next best pick I’m going to point you all in the direction of Aaron Wise 20/1 EW BetVictor. The 26yrs old American born in South Africa and 2018 rookie of the year could be the one they all have to beat this week at Mayakoba. Wise only has one PGA Tour victory to his name but that could be all about to change this weekend.

Winner at the AT&T Byron Nelson in his rookie year, this kid has all the credentials and a bright future awaits. This year Wise has only entered twenty-one events with seven of those being Top 20 finishes, it would have been many more if not for hovering just outside the Top 20 on more than a few occasions.

The good thing here is that Wise has improved more as the year has gone on, T6th at the Mexico Open, which could be a clue, T6th also at the Players Championship, 6th last time out at the CJ Cup and best of all, runner up at the Memorial Tournament.

Runner-up also at this event in 2020 along with 15th place last year, it’s clear for all to see that this is a venue that suits Aaron Wise’s game.

Stats that stick out and are worth a mention on the PGA Tour this year include 19th SG Putting, 16th Going for the Green, 13th 3 Putt Avoidance, 9th Total Putting,8th Scrambling 6th Driving Distance averaging 323.8 yards, and 1st Scrambling from the Rough.

As above, these are all stats in the Top 20 amongst the best players in the world.

The Wisest of them all on Sunday evening could easily be Aaron Wise as he doubles up with another PGA Tour Title in the bag.

Russell Henley 50/1 EW SpreadEx

For my next suggestion, I’m going to single out  Russell Henley 50/1 EW SpreadEx. The 33-year-old from Georgia has had a fairly consistent year and got off to a great start with a runners-up finish at the Sony Open in Hawaii and a very respectable 30th-place finish at Augusta in April.

T10th at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and T5th at the Wyndham Championship are other notable performances worth a mention this year.

With three PGA titles already in the bag but without a win since 2017, the five-year drought could all but end this weekend and the consistency could well pay off, not just for Russell Henley but also for us. The 50/1 on offer could be 5/1 at Sunday's final round so my advice is to take the 50/1 while it’s available safe in the knowledge that a place in the Top 6 will return a tidy profit or why not go safer and take a Top 20 finish available with William Hill at 23/10.

For my final betting tip, it’s the customary match bet and for this week's NAP I’d say that Emiliano Grillo should comfortably beat Brian Harman over the 72 holes. So I’m going to make it another SuperBanker Match bet Nap 5/6 Bet365.

  • Viktor Hovland 11/1 EW Bet365
  • Aaron Wise 20/1 EW BetVictor
  • Russell Henley 50/1 EW SpreadEx
  • Emiliano Grillo to beat Brian Harman over the 72 holes 5/6 Bet365.
