The DP World Tour visits arguably the most scenic golf course in the world for this week’s European Masters at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club, Crans Montana, Switzerland.

The 156-field with the top 65, including ties making the weekend, will all be competing for a share of the €2.5M prize purse. The winner will be collecting the European Masters trophy and a winner's cheque for $416,750.

Thriston Lawrence returns to defend the title he won last year when beating Matt Wallace in a playoff. His winning scorecard read 262, -18.

Crans-sur-Sierre will be playing 6,808 yards long this week; it's a stunning par 70 Parkland layout where precision and accuracy will be the key to success.

The weather is forecast to be sunny and warm on Thursday and Friday with showers expected over the weekend. Breezes shouldn't pose any problems, peaking at around 5mph.

This European Masters will be screened on Sky Sports Golf and Sky Sports Main Event, with live coverage starting at 12:30 pm on Thursday afternoon.

Matt Wallace 22/1 EW William Hill 1-8 places

For my main selection to win this week in Switzerland, I'm going to advise Matt Wallace 22/1 EW William Hill 1-8 places. Matt Wallace finished an unlucky runner-up here last year, beaten at the first playoff hole by Thriston Lawrence. He was also runner-up again just a few days back at the Czech Masters in Prague.

The talented Englishman enjoyed his maiden breakthrough W on the PGA Tour this year when bagging the Corales Puntacana Championship and has fared well over on the PGA circuit recently. T7th at the Valspar Championship is also worthy of a mention.

Matt Wallace is a specialist in the approach play department, especially from the 175-200 yards range. This could be target practice again for Wallace with lots of shots in from this distance over the next few days. He’s another who can allow his temper to get the better of him when it's not going his way, but I'm in the thinking that there's no need for anger management for Matt Wallace this weekend in Switzerland. In fact, quite the opposite as he goes one better than last year when he scoops the European Masters to make it a famous five DP World Tour Titles.

Nicolai Hojgaard 18/1 EW Unibet 1-6 places

For my next pick, I’m going to strongly recommend Nicolai Hojgaard 18/1 EW Unibet 1-6 places. I'm going to stick with the young Dane again this week and why not? He never really let us down last weekend, finishing 3rd at the Czech Masters for some Each Way profit. I have a feeling that it could be more of the same this week; that if not winning, then a place at worst seems likely. With figures like this, it's hard to ignore Nicolai at Crans-sur-Sierre.

The 22-year-old from Denmark ranks 4th on the DP World Tour for Stroke Average and 6th for Greens in Regulation. His best finish this year was over on the PGA Tour when finishing runner-up to Matt Wallace at the Corales Puntacana Championship. With another five Top 10 efforts this year, you just simply cannot ignore Nicolai’s chances again this weekend.

Robert MacIntyre 28/1 EW Bet365 1-8 places

For my final selection this week, I'm back with Bob, Robert MacIntyre 28/1 EW Bet365 1-8 places. With the Ryder Cup looming, Bob will be keen to get his first W on the board in 2023. Without a victory this year but not for the lack of trying, Bob has three Top 5 finishes at the last five attempts.

T4th last weekend at the Czech Masters, 2nd at the Scottish Open, and 4th at Made in Himmerland. The Flying Scotsman has been steaming ahead of his rivals and will be one of the European Gladiators in Rome at the Ryder Cup next month. The 27-year-old from Oban also has three Top 10 finishes in a row earlier in the season, so it's about time that Oor Bob got his hands on a trophy before lifting another one at the Ryder Cup.

Omega European Masters

  • Matt Wallace 22/1 EW William Hill 1-8 places
  • Nicolai Hojgaard 18/1 EW Unibet 1-6 places
  • Robert MacIntyre 28/1 EW Bet365 1-8 places
