Friday’s Football Tips: Crunch time for Leeds United as they bid to get EFL Championship promotion push back on track at Sheffield Wednesday

After a busy few days of European qualifiers it's back to the domestic action tonight and there's a cracker in the EFL Championship as Leeds.

Yorkshire derbies are always pretty fiery and there's a lot at stake for Leeds United as they bid to get their promotion push up and running.

Daniel Farke's side were title favourites in the ante-post betting but have kicked off with two draws either side of a Carabao Cup battering by Middlesbrough.

Sheffield Wednesday began with back-to-back wins in league and cup but crashed to a 4-0 loss at Sunderland last time out so they're also desperate to roar back with a win.

The slow start for Leeds is probably down to losing so many key players – with Crysencio Summerville, Archie Gray and Georginio Rutter all moving to Premier League clubs for big money.

It's hard to replace that kind of quality and results may continue to be poor for a while as Leeds adapt. I'm surprised to see Sheffield Wednesday as big as 3/1 with Betfred at home and that looks a bit of value to me. They're also a decent 19/20 in the double chance market.

Going for cards could pay off with both sides fired up and over 42.5 booking points pays 6/5. We saw 13 corners when Leeds won at Hillsborough last term so over 10.5 flag kicks also stands a chance at 10/11.

Borussia Monchengladbach vs Bayer Leverkusen top betting tips

The Bundesliga gets back underway tonight and it will be fascinating to see if Bayer Leverkusen can repeat the stunning form of last term.

Xabi Alonso's men went unbeaten across the entire domestic season and only a defeat in the Europa League Final stopped them from making it one of the greatest campaigns in history.

That winning mentality saw them land the German Super Cup last weekend as they scored a late leveller with 10 men against Stuttgart then triumphed on penalties.

A trip to Monchengladbach is a tricky Bundesliga opener even though Borussia were poor last season and finished just above the drop zone.

Going for goals should pay off but combining BTTS and over 2.5 goals only takes you to 8/11. The half-time draw looks better value for me at 6/4 while Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface is 23/20 for anytime scorer.

Paris St-Germain vs Montpellier top tips

French champions Paris St-Germain fired out a statement of intent last week as they won 4-1 at Le Harve in the first match of their title defence.

Luis Enrique's men now host Montpellier and will be out to show there's plenty of life after Kylian Mbappe.

PSG are just 3/10 for another three points but backing them to win both halves boosts the odds to 13/8.

Three of last week's scorers – Randal Kolo-Muani, Ousmane Dembele and Bradley Barcola – started on the bench but I'd imagine at least a couple of them will be in from the off here.

Kolo-Muani is the most likely starter after replacing the crocked Goncalo Ramos early on in Le Harve and he's 23/20 for another goal.
