Friday’s football tips: Cards bet appeals at 6/4 as Blades battle Coventry

There's a cracker in the EFL Championship tonight as Sheffield United look to move to the top with a win over in-form Coventry City.

With just eight games to go, it's a three-way fight for the two automatic promotion places, with the Blades level on points with leaders Leeds and Burnley just two points behind them.

So there's hardly any margin for error but Chris Wilder's side have a tricky assignment tonight against a Coventry side who have been transformed since Frank Lampard took the reins.

Coventry's resurgence under Lampard shows no sign of stopping and a 3-0 win over Sunderland last time out made it 10 victories in their last 12 league games.

Town currently sit in the final play-off place but they're only a point ahead of both Colchester and Crewe so the stakes are high.

United's 13-game unbeaten run came crashing to an end last weekend as they lost 4-1 on the road at Bradford. But they've won five of their last six at home so look good value at 11/10 with BoyleSports tonight.

They also beat Grimsby 1-0 away from home earlier in the season, with that match producing 12 corners. But only one of Colchester's last seven games has hit double figures for corners so under nine corners could pay off at 5/4 with Bet365.

Tranmere Rovers vs Cheltenham Town top betting tips

Cheltenham Town still have an outside chance of crashing the League Two play-off party but there's little margin for error as they sit down in 14th, nine points off the pace.

They will need to win most of their remaining games but it won't be easy tonight away to a Tranmere side who are fighting for their lives at the foot of the table.

Rovers sit third bottom but can move nine points clear of the drop zone with a win tonight so they will be fired up.

Their recent form is also good, going five games without defeat, and Tranmere beat Bromley in their last game at home.

Cheltenham have won just once in their last seven outings so that's why BoyleSports make Rovers 10/11 favourites tonight.
