IT'S the start of a barmy week if you like me can't get used to midweek FA Cup fixtures.

The last-16 ties will be played Monday to Thursday starting with Portsmouth vs Arsenal tonight.

Pompey are going well in League One and this should be a decent game with goals but the Gunners afford to slip up having exited the Europa League last week.

In the Championship Middlesbrough face a tough test against Nottingham Forest and there are a few other games on the Continent to look at ahead of hectic week.

I've picked out a treble starting with over 2.5 goals at Portsmouth. The south-coast side are on a good run but this will be a massive step up in class and I expect the Gunners to bounce back from their first defeat of the year against Olympiakos.

But it's goals I'm going for. Five of the Gunners' previous seven have gone over 2.5 goals and there is a chance Pompey could contribute to the goals tally. If Eddie Nketiah starts back the former on-loan Leeds star to score first at 5-1 at 888sport.

In the Championship it looks a tight game at the Riverside with a draw having a chance. However, I'm going with draw or Forest as the away looks a better prospect than a home won. Boro are without a victory in six, losing their last two 1-0, but play-off chasers Forest have won just one in six.

Complete the treble with over 2.5 goals at Benfica vs Moreirense. Five of the last six meetings in Lisbon have saw both to score and over 2.5 and Moreirense's last six have landed btts. Four of Benfica's last seven have brought up btts and over 3.5 goals so every chance of a high scorer.

Sunday saw my 4-1 both to score treble win with games at Union Berlin, Leipzig and Everton but Real Madrid downed my Top Treble late on after wins by Wolves and Lyon. Barca missed a few chances in the first half of El Clasico and ultimately paid the penalty.

My Super Single was void with Kevin de Bruyne not starting the EFL Cup Final as Pep Guardiola rang the changes in a 2-1 win over Aston Villa.

Well done to all the winners including SlipTips on his match previews and Greg,

2pts Top Treble

  • Portsmouth vs Arsenal over 2.5 goals
  • Nottm Forest not to lose
  • Benfica vs Moreirense over 2.5 goals (8.45pm)

    Middlesbrough v Notts Forrest
Bet365 are offering 8/1 for a red card card in this match . Big odds imo
Red card/pen double is a massive 35/1 . This is a a league that has more than it`s fair share of Pens and Reds and must be worth a punt at those prices.
Also on a penalty at 10/3 with Hills

Salzburg are away to altach today looking for 3 pts to keep on LASK tails. They need to win, but they also played Friday night and are in action again on Thursday night in the cup. (against LASK) With this in mind I cant see them being at absolute full strength today, but I can see them winning. Considering they have been absolutely shocking at the back since they came back from the winter break (conceded a minimum of 2 their last 4 games) and they conceded twice on their last visit, this makes the price for an away win with both teams scoring appealing. This can be backed at 7/5 bet 365

Macca, what’s your take on tomorrow’s Cup game?
Liverpool were already 2/1 before the Watford game and I really don’t get that at all.

Is there a reason? Are they putting out the under 11’s or something? The bookies arn’t stupid but it looks too good to be true.

    • maccathered 4 years ago

There 2/1 because the bookies think Klopp will go with the kids again,i don’t think he will.Nothing has been said about the u23s playing so i would take it the first team will play. The u23’s manager has just left Liverpool to become manager of Blackpool so i would imagine the kids will be getting used to their new manager rather than taking part in this game.I posted a while ago about taking them at this price and given the reasons i have stated look a good value bet.

    • Mr Fixit 4 years ago

I heard him say mostly first team but will try to involve a couple of the kids.
Lampard saying he’s going with a strong side. Probably best to leave until teams are confirmed.

    • maccathered 4 years ago

Chelsea will go full strength for sure,i’m pretty certain Liverpool will, they weren’t even 25% of what they can be against Watford and almost treated it like a friendly,my guess is they were saving themselves for this game.We have Bournemouth on Saturday and then Madrid on the 11th and that would explain Liverpool’s performance as you cannot field 11 kids in the Premier league so Klopps only way of resting players was to tell them to ease off which from what i was watching they did just that.

    • Mr Fixit 4 years ago

To be honest if you’re going to tell players to ease off you’d be as well playing the kids.
If the result didn’t matter he should have given them a go.

    • maccathered 4 years ago

Your not allowed mr f in the premier league.

    • Mr Fixit 4 years ago

You can to a certain extent – and worst you’d get was a an affordable fine.

    • sean567 4 years ago

Liverpoollost because Klopp told the players to take it easy 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂👌🏻 Had to check my calendar there and make sure it was March we’re in not April

    • chelseagirl 4 years ago

Sean am with you on this one never heard so much mince. Why did Klopp not just start all the guys on the bench then ? If Liverpool go full strength i will be on them at that price 2/1.

    • Jamieinga 4 years ago

Liverpool are tired cus of the style of football klop plays, Leicester also are struggling with the same problem, but it’s won them the league, but I doubt they will win anything else cus they are so tired

    • maccathered 4 years ago

Your putting words into your own mouth there sean i never said what you have stated mate, i said maybe, something that would explain their performance.

    • Mr Fixit 4 years ago

You basically said you thought Klopp had told players to ease off.
Surely that’s worth punishment if it’s true.

    • maccathered 4 years ago

If Klopp started a second string then that would be frowned upon by the rest of the teams in the relegation zone,he played Lovren for one.

    • cptnsnort 4 years ago

“so Klopps only way of resting players was to tell them to ease off which from what i was watching they did just that.”

I’m a Liverpool fan and have never heard a bigger pile of tripe in my life. You’ve obviously had you’re eyes and ears shut for the entire time he has managed us

    • maccathered 4 years ago

Something wasn’t right mr f,you don’t get 11 footballers all having a bad day at the same time.

    • Mr Fixit 4 years ago

They weren’t at it but I’d be amazed if they were told not to try their best.

    • maccathered 4 years ago

cptnsnort far from it la far from it,i haven’t just supported them whilst klopp as been at the helm. What does the term us mean???

    • Jamieinga 4 years ago

Having played the game at a decent level you don’t go into games and ease off, they are competitive athletes, not in there mind set, they are nakered.

    AUSTRIAN CUP
    Salzburg v LASK
Getting this in early. Salzburg have now conceded 13 goals in their last 5 games- I’ve watched 3 and a half those games and they have been an absolute shambles at the back. The last thing they need is a visit from the best team in Austria who were responsible for 3 of those goals at the red bull arena. Bookies have Salzburg as clear favs, I’m gonna oppose them.
