ON a normal Saturday night I'd be down the golf club watching Match of the Day with a couple of pints.
Saturday was a night in watching the Diego Maradona film.
It reminded me what a player the Argentine was but also what a sad ending there was to his career. From the Hand of God to a drug-crazed moron. If you missed it or haven't seen it before try catching up.
That was the highlight of my day from early morning when I backed Sean's corners tip on Western Sydney.
Sean's a real afficionado of the A League while I'm just learning but I have a Super Single for Monday and will put up reasoning later. Well done to him and all the other winners on Saturday.
My other bet on Saturday was on the pools and while I didn't win I was quite pleased to pick four draws in my 10 sekections. I wonder if they'd been the draws I'd have picked for the VIP Tips.
The secret is to try and get into the minds of the Pools Panel and it was no surprise for me they went for eight score draws from the 49 on offer.
I'll have another go this weekend to see if I can beat my 14 points.
On Sunday as far as I can see there are two games in Belarus so it's another day off to me – but roll on Monday to Perth Glory vs Western United. And before that we have Newcastle Jets vs Melbourne City.

Monday’s A league
While most of the sporting world continues with their shut down the A league carries on and offers us something to watch and bet on even if your not a fan of the standard. (Remember, these guys play in the A league and not La Liga for a reason). Tomorrow sees 2 matches and I have bets for across both but most of my focus is on the match between Perth and western United in match 2. There’s a couple of reasons for this- firstly the jets and city played on Friday, so team line ups might be slightly different from usual first choice XIs, secondly both teams are in pretty decent form and for me it’s kinda hard to split them, although we should see goals and I fancy both teams to net. City have seen both net in 5 out of their last 6 away games, conceding 2 or more in all of those games, while the last 6 jets home games have seen both sides netting in 5. I’ll be having a small stake on a 1-1 draw as well as putting both teams to score in a double. For the guys who like a goal scorer Jamie mcclaren blasted back into form with a hat trick at the weekend for city and will be out to increase his slender lead over Adam le fondre in the golden boot race, and dimi petratos and Roy o donavon will be the jets most likely men.
Advised tips
Correct score 1-1 13/2 bet victor
Both teams to score double over both games
31/20 bet 365
The second match sees Perth take on western United. A quick look at form might make folk sway towards the away side here as they have won their last 2 matches 6-2 and 5-1, however those 2 victories came against the worst 2 teams in the league form wise currently, the 6-2 was against the mariners who have lost 10 in a row, the 5-1 was against Adelaide who have lost 5/6 and the game they didn’t lose was against the aforementioned mariners who everyone is beating. Perth have no win in 5, but crucially 1 was an away match in the AFC champions league to a Japanese team (oz teams are a level or 2 below the japs standard wise) 2 matches were against the best 2 teams in the league, and the other 2 matches were against the 2 form teams in the league, so they’ve had an unlucky run and picking up 2 points from those 4 domestic games isn’t too much of a disaster. As with the other match if we look at the last 6 matches for form then this gives us a decent idea of where these sides are at and Perth have 4 wins and a draw in those 6 at home, western have went 2/2/2 away from home. 1 thing that has been a common theme thru those home games for Perth is goals- and an abundance of them, at both ends. The glory have managed 19 netting 2+ in all 6, whilst conceding 9, 2+ in 4 of those games. With western in such good scoring form themselves I hope we will see more of the same tomorrow. I fancy the home men to edge this but with both finding the net. Home advantage could well be a factor as well, it’s a 4 hour flight from Melbourne to Perth as well as a 3 hour time difference and it’s a journey western United have yet to make.
As well as goals tomorrow another market I like for this match is corners, more specifically Perth corners. Perth average almost 7 a match, united concede an average of almost 7 a match, whilst only averaging 3.5 themselves, so this makes the handicap for Perth appealing especially knowing how both teams line up. The glory play a kinda fluid 3/4/3 or 3/4/2/1 with emphasis on width and balls into the box, United it’s 5/4/1 without the ball and 3/5/1/1 with where they try and get diamante on the ball providing thru balls for Berisha. ( by the way if you bet with skybet they are telling you that he’s the man that scored a double v England, this is not the case they are 100% wrong, don’t be fooled into a bet using their stat) With these reasons and home advantage I expect Perth to dominate this market. I have a few selections for this game including a NAP and NB, good luck if you follow any of them.
Advised tips
Perth -2 corners 5/6 hills NAP
both teams to score/o2.5mgs 21/20 bet 365 ( via betbuilder it’s only evens in the goals section) NB
Asian goal line over 3 21/20 bet 365
Perth to win btts 21/10 bet 365
For smaller stakes I’m also on Perth -3 and -4 corners, 5/4 and 15/8 respectively at hills.
Nice write up sean
Is there any alternative to your nap with bet365?
Not at the moment mate although they should have more markets in the morning. Wouldn’t put u off the goals if they don’t, it was a very close call which bet to go for as the NAP, in the end I only went for the corners because of it turns out there’s little in the way of goals then there should be plenty of corners as I’m expecting an open end to end game.
Besart Berisha has found the net against England, the match was at my ground Turf Moor which I attended. I don’t believe it was against the full England side however, was either England B or the U21s. Don’t think he scored twice but hammered a cracking effort from around 30 yards. Remember it quite well coz he got his dream move to Burnley not long after that, it all went downhill from there!
That goal was for Albania against England B in a friendly before Kosovo had an international team.
As you say he then signed for Burnley but suffered a serious that kept him out for a season.
After that he had a few loan spells but bever played a competitive game for Burnley.
Has more than 100 goals in the A League.
Ok Kyle, skybet are advertising him as the man who scored the double in the 5-3 game tho when it was in fact valon Berisha who plays for lazio that netted.
Cheers again for the write-ups – spot on about Berisha although he seems to be a goal machine in the A League.
Perth v western United OFF
Nightmare – is that mean the rest of the A League will go.
My bad, absolutely right Sean I forgot about Valon. I just mentioned that goal against England coz it was way before he changed allegiance over to Kosovo and thought that may have been whom Sky was referring too.
Yeah Mr F if I remember rightly he had a serious knee injury which scuppered his time with us and only goal I can recall him scoring was in a friendly with Accy Stanley. Changed his game a lot since then and obviously seems to have found his place in Aussie.
GL with the bets tomorrow lads 👍
No mr fixit right now the jets v city is on. There’s no news as to why the Perth game is off, but there was talk of just playing all the remaining games in Sydney Melbourne and Newcastle as these aren’t too far away from each other and Perth is obviously across the other side of the country, I suspect it could be that.
OK cheers.
Speaking of that jets v city game, Newcastle manager Karl Robinson has said he will utilise his squad for this game, so check team news before placing any bets. If your not sure what their strongest team is, now that Wes Hoolahan is fit it’s the XI who have started the last 2 league games. Whatever information app you use should have the line ups. I know I said I’d be on 1-1 but I’ll cash this out now and wait for the line ups in the morning. Probably available from 745am onwards uk time.
I watched When Gazza met Merse on sky which was just the two of them sitting down and talking about the good old days.. my word what a character and talent Gascoigne was just a shame he ended up on the bottle

I find that with having fewer games to focus on, even including obscure youth and friendly games, and by watching them in-play, looking at recent form and picking up thoughts from people on the site, it is possible to keep things ticking along quite nicely with sensible low, small stakes.
Problem is tonys there won’t be any football at all soon.Until these terrorist are caught were pretty much f*cked.

Think the game in perth in the A league has been cancelled due to new travel restrictions being brought in rest of league could follow along with nrl rugby but no final word yet
Never seen such shi. card for a Sunday. Spoiled for choice between Burundi, Russian 5th division and friendlies. And that Belarus game with 2 penalties first half time was very suspicious.
The southern and western states of Australia are closing their borders and any interstate arrivals will have to self isolate for 14 days. As I said above the A league were thinking of just playing games in Newcastle, Sydney and Melbourne to finish the season, it looks as if this will be the case now to lessen travel. Melbourne is in Victoria which is in technically a different state to the other 2 cities but really it’s just a small area tacked onto the bottom of NSW. By doing this it means 7 of the 11 teams will be unaffected and the A league should be able to carry on. Just be wary of betting on wellington, Perth, Adelaide or Brisbane if it says they are at home, because it looks like they won’t be.
Sean Perth match appears in FlashScores as postponed, is it?
Yes mate. I posted above a few hours ago.
Why don’t they just stop?
I don’t know, 1 reason I’ve seen mooted and it’s obviously just speculation is that FOX who broadcast the games don’t want them to. The exposure they are receiving because they are nearly the only league still playing is phenomenal. Apparently they had viewing figures of 25 million for the Sydney derby just from Italy alone. Another reason is probably with these measures in place they reckon they can get the season finished so why would you stop if there’s no players or officials contaminated. Wellington are already in Sydney, so that means there’s 3 teams in Sydney, 3 in Melbourne and 2 in Newcastle so the fixtures will be fairly easy to sort out.
As they say money talks.
You’d hate to think that would be a reason for continuing, but would it be surprising in this day and age? Although I’m pretty certain there’s still Aussie rules being played as well so it’s not the only sport still going. With the numerous games still getting played all across the globe (even friendlies) it looks as if in certain places they have said until players and club officials are contaminated and it affects a team then they are carrying on even if it’s behind closed doors and tbh part of me agrees at this moment in time.
Scott says there’s a high-level meeting later to decide whether to continue.
