NOTHING continues to happen on the field in football but off it Belgian chiefs took decisive action that infuriated UEFA.

They crowned Brugge, who led Gent by 15 points, as champions with no prospect of football resuming.

UEFA continue to insist there will be action in June and tried to talk Belgian out of making a decision – even though they didn't relegate anyone and are considering league reconstruction as an option.

They want leagues to finish but who will side with them and who will hold off in a bid to protect TV and sponsorship deals?

Smaller nations such as Scotland and Holland could follow Belgium but the big guns will be trying to hold firm.

There wasn't much happening on Thursday but well done to a few people who posted winners.

And a big congratulations to anyone who scored well on the Emojis Stadium quiz. Admin have posted all 30 answers if any of them stumped you.

Friday sees the return of action from Belarus with league games being played over three days.

There are two on Friday with Belshina Bobruisk facing Gorodeya and Dinamo Minsk tackling Torpedo Zhodino.

My Belarus tipping hasn't been great but I'd take Gorodeay to win or draw against a side that's never beaten them and Torpedo to avoid defeat in Minsk. I'm not the biggest fan of h2h but Gorodeya and Torpedo look good going by this stat.

Footballers are going to be asked to forfeit 25% Of their pay following public pressure, was even suggested in today’s national daily briefing by the health minister.

Seem a bit of a hollow gesture now, maybe the football bosses should of done it before it came to this.

Well done Leeds, Bournemouth Brighton and several kind gestures by individuals Messi, Ronaldo, pep guardiola, Andy Robertson to name a few who already have contributed to their own people and I salute them.

As for Daniel (£7 million) Levi, you sir are a piece of crap telling your day to day workers to go and scrounge some money from tax payers to make ends meet.
You now join Branson, Tim Martin, Mike Ashley etc in the hall of shame.

    Morning gents

5 matches tomorrow from Belarus with two Premier League matches and three reserve fixtures

I’ve had a good look through the matches and the bookies certainly aren’t taking any chances on the bookings markets with prices as low as 1/2 for over 4.5 cards. – The Premier League games look tough to call but the Reserves are far more open affairs and two of them stand out

🇧🇾 Dinamo Brest Reserves vs Slavia Reserves 🇧🇾 (KO 11am)

Over 1.0 1.5 First half goals
    4/5 (Bet365)⚽️

    🇧🇾BATE Borisov Reserves vs FK Ruh🇧🇾 (11.30am)

    Over 2.5 match goals double
    5/4 (Bet365)⚽️

Should be easy to finish the leagues quickly… Duckworth-Lewis can work out a system or let the pools panel adjudicate the last few matches. No point dragging it out.

Not sure about this players wages thing, why should they give up their wages,i don’t agree with what Levy has done at Spurs but the players are on contracts and what thy earn is totally irrelevant to what is happening right now.Is it the players fault that there is a pandemic???No so why should they give up their wages.

    • micky lfc 4 years ago

I think the league, clubs and players contribute over 3 billion in taxes

    • sean567 4 years ago

the only people asking players to give up any part of their wage should be the clubs, they are the ones paying them for nothing in return. government officials have an absolute cheek to make demands of anyone.

    • jimba 4 years ago

Macca Andy Dunn has done a excellent article on this matter in the Mirror, also I agree it’s not football’s fault there’s this awful pandemic 😕

    • maccathered 4 years ago

Given time i’m pretty sure the players would have pledged something anyway, but as sean says for the Government to make a statement about it on national tv is a disgrace and bloody p*sstake. Will have a read of that later cheers jimba.

    • Mr Fixit 4 years ago

The one thing that’s not right is clubs furloughing low-paid staff while keeping players on full wages.
They should have cut players’ wages to help pay other workers regarded as less important but just as vital.

    • oneoff 4 years ago

Is it anyones fault about this virus no, but alot of people have lost there jobs or took pay cuts in jobs with more importance than kicking a bag of wind about.so yeah the big headed, f..kers should have a pay cut, there doing nothing to earn it

    The SPFL have 3 choices

1 They can give Celtic the title now

2 They can play the season out in July /August and give Celtic the title then, absolutely no chance of this happening as events with large gatherings are now being cancelled right up until November.

    3. They can finish all this seasons competitions when everything clears up, as there’s not a hope we’ll see any of next season this year, my view only.

    • elvis parsley 4 years ago

Can’t see free travel across Europe happening this year so champs and Europa League next season won’t happen.
My prediction is this season domestically will resume about January time and this season will conclude after followed by euro 2021, maybe in one country and not strewn far and wide over Europe.
TV companies will need reimbursement for next season and that is the issue that will send clubs to the wall.

    • jstuhhs 4 years ago

      Two certanties

Celtic will get the title sometime

      AS will Liverpool

  9. alex_mufc83 4 years ago

One things for sure, the COVID 19 has created some interested share opportunities…

Very tempted to invest in some of the major players.

The plot thickens with CL qualification for next season

UEFA are qouted ( by the Guardian) that nations not completing the season ie Belgium MAY I repeat MAY not be allowed to compete in CL due to having not qualified properly.

    Whatever next

    • Mr Fixit 4 years ago

That quote is in all the papers today and comes from a letter sent out by UEFA.
It’s a threat because they don’t want to lose billions of pounds.

    • jstuhhs 4 years ago

Quite correct Money rules the World

  11. jstuhhs 4 years ago

Harry Maguire has asked the entire Manchester United squad to donate 30 per cent of their wages to charity.

  12. Jointhedots 4 years ago

Lots of good observations out there today and i can see both sides of the debate.

Last thing both football associations in the UK want is overloaded with lawyers flexing their muscles. Read today that if the SPFL void the league season the legal bill would be over one billion pounds. Just imagine what those figures would be down south.

Health should be priority in all decisions regardless….

    • Mr Fixit 4 years ago

SPFL have said the season will not be voided – it’s on their agenda.
And I don’t see where the one billion pound is coming from.
4 or 5 teams at most would threaten legal action – one being Hearts and also Dundee United.

    • Jointhedots 4 years ago

I agree with you Mr.F. I cannot see how they could come up with such high figures but according to the Daily Record article it’s something to do with a cancellation bill which would cost one billion pounds.

Legal fees, European money, TV rights and other legislation and politics we don’t know about Maybe that is why they can’t void the season as this would be a financial catastrophe that would bring the SPFL down….

    • Mr Fixit 4 years ago

If you read the article again it says the £1billion bill is for EPL cancellation not SPFL.
      And that will be correct.

    • Jointhedots 4 years ago

I read it again Mr.F and your spot on. As my lawyer friend advised me. You should read everything three times to get true clarity.

Need to keep off the Brewdog punk and Elvis juice and start drinking their new sanitiser.

Keeping a close eye on the William Hill share price

    • alex_mufc83 4 years ago

taken a pummelling, lowest to date. don’t see them going anywhere given how cash-rich they are and will get through COVID back in huge profits. all depends if it’s going to go lower before it improves, but precautionary measures have already been impremented so I don’t see it dropping further, not by much anyway.

    • sonnyboy 4 years ago

      Yes. And share prices generally.

    • alex_mufc83 4 years ago

Yeah, the point is it looks a good investment. On it myself anyway for the longer term.
