Football Bet of the Day

Following on from the surprise lack of goals at Alloa on Saturday, Sunday’s Football’s Bet of the Day sees me head to the Danish top flight, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

⚽️ Viborg vs Silkeborg

🇩🇰 Superliga

⏰ Sunday 13 April, 13:00

Two clubs separated only by two points in the Danish Superliga table meet at the Viborg Stadium on Sunday afternoon as Viborg play host to Silkeborg in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Jakob Poulsen’s hosts are the third-highest scorers in the Danish top flight, slamming in 44 goals across their opening 24 matches, with 25 (57%) of them coming in front of their supporters.

The Greens have found the back of the net in all 12 (100%) of their league contests on home soil, notching 2+ goals in seven (58%) of them – including in each of their last three – and will look to breach a Silkeborg defence that’s kept a solitary clean sheet across their previous 20 Danish Superliga matches and none in any of their last 10 away from home.

Kent Nielsen’s visitors have scored 41 goals across their opening 24 matches in the Danish Superliga this campaign, with an impressive 22 (54%) of them coming on their travels.

Only second-placed Midtjylland have prevented Silkeborg from scoring on their travels this season – with SIF notching 2+ goals in four of their last six and seven of their previous 11 road trips – and will be confident of breaching a Viborg defence that’s kept just two shutouts at home in the league this season, conceding 21 goals.

Bet of the Day

Viborg’s opening 24 Danish Superliga fixtures this campaign have averaged a league-high 3.50 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying in a joint league-best 17 (71%) of them – including in each of their last five at home – whilst 18 (75%) of them have produced goals at both ends, including 10/12 (83%) on home soil.

Silkeborg’s opening 12 Danish Superliga fixtures on their travels this season have averaged 3.17 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score paying out in 10 (83%) of them – including in nine of their last 10 – whilst five of their last six and six of their past eight have seen a minimum of three goals.

The two previous meetings between the pair this season have produced 10 goals – with Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals landing on each occasion – and I’m expecting the goals to flow once again.
