Union Saint-Gilloise will look to keep pace with league leaders Genk as they travel to the Jan Breydel Stadium to take on mid-table Cercle Brugge in one of two early kickoffs in the Pro League on Wednesday.
Cercle Brugge lost for the second consecutive match last time out as they were beaten 2-1 away at Sporting Charleroi. Miron Muslic’s hosts have struggled against the better sides in the division, losing seven of their eight matches against teams that head into Matchday 21 occupying the top seven places in the table. The Groen en Zwart have conceded 18 goals across those matches, shipping multiple goals in seven of them.
Union Saint-Gilloise’s incredible run of form continued on Sunday as they defeated the side directly below them in the table, Royal Antwerp, 2-0. Karel Geraerts’s men have won 10 and drawn two of their previous 12 league outings and head into this fixture winning each of their last seven league matches on the road. No side in the Belgian top-flight has scored more goals away from home this season than Les Unionistes, scoring 25 times across their 10 away league matches this season.

What’s more, Karel Geraerts’s visitors have won each of their last seven league fixtures on the road, and he’ll be confident his side can claim another maximum away to a side that has struggled against the top sides in the division this season.
Incredibly, Union Saint-Gilloise have scored on multiple occasions in 15 of their previous 17 Pro League fixtures – including in each of their last eight away from home – and I fancy them to bag another double against a Cercle Brugge side that’s shipped two or more goals in 7/8 of their matches against sides that headed into Matchday 21 in seventh and above.
