Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on the German Bundesliga and the Portuguese Primeira Liga. I’ve picked a game from each league win which I fancy the home side to secure all three points.

RB Leipzig vs Wolfsburg

🇩🇪 Bundesliga

⏰ Sunday 23rd January, 14:30

Resurgent RB Leipzig will look to collect another three points, as they host an out of form Wolfsburg at Red Bull Arena. The hosts can jump two places into sixth win a win, whilst the visitors are 15th, just two points above the relegation playoff spot.

RB Leipzig have kicked off 2022 with back-to-back wins over both Mainz and Stuttgart, as well as booking their place in the quarter-finals of the DFB Pokal. Since taking over from Jesse Marsch, Domenico Tedesco has won four of his first six matches in charge. Leipzig have been pretty strong at home this season, with the Red Bulls winning seven of their opening 10 matches, with two of their defeats coming against two of the current top three. Only Bayern (31) and Dortmund (30) have scored more than Leipzig’s tally of 29 at home in the Bundesliga.

Wolfsburg finally put an end to their seven-match losing run in the league, as they drew 0-0 with Hertha Berlin last time out, meaning Florian Kohfeldt’s side have now taken just two points from their last nine matches. Wolfsburg are the leagues joint-lowest scorers, finding the back of the net on just 17 occasions this season. Wolfsburg have kept just one clean sheet in their seven matches away from home, with the Wolves conceding 15 goals in those fixtures.

Porto vs Famalicão

🇵🇹 Primeira Liga

⏰ Sunday 23rd January, 20:30

Porto will look to extend their lead at the top of the Premeira Liga, as they host Famalicão at the Estádio do Dragão. The hosts are thre points clear of reigning champions Sporting CP, whilst Famalicão are 15th, only outside the relegation playoff spot on goal difference.

Despite following behind in each of their last two matches, Porto came away with all three points against both Estoril and Belenenses. Porto have dropped just four points in the Primeira Liga all season, with the Dragons winning each of their last 13. Porto have found the back of the net 48 times this season, with 14 of them coming in their last four matches. Sergio Conceição’s side have scored two or more goals in 15 of their 16 matches in the league this season.

Famalicão failed to build on their 1-0 win over bottom side Belenenses, as they could only draw 0-0 at home to 12th placed Paços de Ferreira. Nevertheless, Rui Pedro Silva’s side are now four games unbeaten in the league, their longest unbeaten run of the season. Famalicão have managed just four clean sheets all season, with just one of them coming on the road. Vila Nova have the joint-worst defensive record on the road this, conceding 19 goals, with them also conceding on multiple occasions in eight of those nine away matches, including in each of their last four.

Bet of the Day

Leipzig have begun 2022 winning their opening three matches in all competitions and will be confident of collecting all three points at home to struggling Wolfsburg side. The Wolves have failed to win any of their last nine Bundesliga matches, losing seven, and with them failing to score in five of their last six, I don’t see them causing Domenico Tedesco’s side too many problems. Following Sporting CP’s surprise defeat at home to Braga, Porto know that if they collect all three points on Sunday evening, they’ll go six points clear of the reigning champions. Sergio Conceição’s men have won each of their last 13 in the Primeira Liga and they still boast a 100% record at the Dragão. The Dragons have scored 48 goals already this season and should score at least twice at home to a Famalicão side that’s conceded 2+ in eight of their nine away games this season.
