Euro 2024 Bet of the day

Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the second of the League One playoff semi-finals, in what promises to be a highly competitive clash.

⚽️ Peterborough United vs Oxford United (0-1 ⚽️, aggregate)

??????? League One Playoffs

⏰ Wednesday 8th May, 20:00

Looking to join Bolton in the League One playoff final, Peterborough and Oxford face off at London Road in their playoff semi-final, and I’ve come up with a bet builder featuring goals and cards.

Darren Ferguson’s hosts are the second-highest scorers in League One, slamming in 89 goals across their opening 47 matches, with 55 (62%) of them coming at home.

Only league winners Portsmouth have prevented Peterborough from scoring at home this season – with The Posh scoring on multiple occasions in 18/23 (78%) of them, including in 17 of their last 20 – and will look to breach an Oxford defence that has kept only five clean sheets on their travels this season, with three (60%) of them coming against the bottom five.

Des Buckingham’s visitors are the fourth-highest scorers in League One, banging in 80 goals across their opening 47 matches, with 35 (44%) of them coming on their travels.

The U’s have found the back of the net in 17/23 (74%) of their road trips – striking on multiple occasions in 11 (48%) of them – and will look to trouble a Posh backline that has kept just one clean sheet across their previous 14 home league outings.

Bet of the Day

Peterborough’s opening 23 League One fixtures in front of their supporters this campaign are averaging 3.61 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in 18/23 (78%) of them, including in 16 of their previous 17 – and given the same has landed in 14/23 (61%) of Oxford’s road trips – I’m happy to have a punt on there being a minimum of three strikes, with the hosts scoring at least one of them.

To nudge the price up, I’m happy to throw in the hosts to earn four or more corners. The Posh have earned four or more corners in 21/23 (91%) of their League One contests in front of their supporters this season, whilst the visitors have conceded at least four corners in all bar two of their previous 22 road trips.

  • Peterborough United to Score 1+ Goal, Over 2.5 Goals & Peterborough United Over 3.5 Corners
  • Pays 4/5 (Skybet BuildABet)
