After seeing our winning run end at four due to a lack of goals at The Etihad on Sunday, Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the Scottish Premiership, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.
⚽️ St Johnstone vs Ross County
🏴 Premiership
⏰ Wednesday 26 February, 19:45
St Johnstone will look to keep their survival hopes alive as they welcome in-form Ross County to McDiarmid Park on Wednesday night in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Simo Valakari’s hosts have scored 30 goals across their opening 27 matches in the Premiership this season, with 15 (50%) of them coming in front of their supporters.
The Saints have found the back of the net in 20/22 (91%) of their Premiership fixtures when excluding meetings with The Old Firm – including in all 11 (100%) at home – and will look to trouble a Staggies defence that has kept just three clean sheets in their past 15 Premiership matches.
Don Cowie’s visitors have also scored 30 goals across their opening 27 Premiership matches this campaign, with 10 (33%) of them coming across their past six road trips.
After failing to score in nine of their opening 16 Premiership contests, The Staggies have found the back of the net in 10 of their next 11 – notching on multiple occasions in five of their past nine – and will look to breach a Saints defence that has kept just four clean sheets in the league all season, shipping 2+ goals in eight of their last 11.
Bet of the Day
St Johnstone’s opening 27 matches in the Scottish Premiership this term have averaged 3.07 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in 19 (70%) of them, including in 10/13 (77%) of them on home soil.
Ross County’s opening 27 Premiership contests this campaign have averaged 2.89 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in 18 (67%) of them.
After seeing Over 2.5 Goals land in just one of their opening five league outings, The Staggies have seen the same payout in 17 of their next 22 and in 13 of their most recent 15, including in seven of their previous eight on their travels.
These two sides have already faced off twice in the Premiership this season, with the matches producing nine goals, with Over 2.5 Goals landing on each occasion.
Therefore, I’m happy to back the Over 2.25 Asian goal line. This would mean if there are exactly two goals scored, we will lose just half of our stake, whilst three or more strikes will reward a full payout.
- Over 2.25 Asian Goal Line
- Pays 39/40 (Bet365)
