Euro 2024 Bet of the day

Following back-to-back winners in Czechia on Wednesday and in North London last night, Friday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the German second tier, and there is one side that appeals to me for goals.

⚽️ Hannover 96 vs Karlsruher SC

🇩🇪 2. Bundesliga

⏰ Friday 8th December, 17:30

Hannover will look to put a halt to their three-match winless run in the 2. Bundesliga as they welcome away-day strugglers Karlsruher to the Niedersachsenstadion in a fixture that I’m keen to back the hosts to grab a couple of goals.

Hannover suffered late heartache last time out, as they conceded in the 90th minute to lose 1-0 away at Paderborn in a match they were forced to play over 70 minutes with just 10 men. Stefan Leitl’s men also saw their four-match winning run in front of their supporters come to an end in their previous home match, but they did at least come from two goals down to salvage a point at home to recently relegated Hertha BSC. Therefore, Hannover have picked up 14 points across their opening seven home matches in the 2. Bundesliga this term (W4-D2-L1), with their solitary defeat coming against 3rd-placed Hamburg, with Die Roten winning all four against sides positioned in 9th and below.

Karlsruher extended their unbeaten record in the league to three matches at the weekend, as they came from two goals down to rescue a point at home to the side directly below them in the table, 15th-placed Hansa Rostock. Christian Eichner’s visitors also drew 2-2 in the previous away fixture against Hertha BSC, but that extended their winless record on the road to six matches (W0-D2-L4), with their solitary victory on their travels coming on the opening day of the season, a 2-3 success at bottom-side Osnabrück.

Bet of the Day

Stefan Leitl’s hosts have scored 28 goals across their opening 15 matches in the 2. Bundesliga this term, with 17 (61%) of them coming at home. Only 3rd-placed Hamburg have prevented Hannover from scoring at home this season – with Die Roten notching two or more goals in each of their other six (86%) league outings in front of their supporters – and I’m backing them to bag another brace at home to a Karlsruher defence yet to register a clean sheet on their travels this season, shipping multiple goals in 5/7 (71%) of them.

  • Hannover 96 to Score Over 1.5 Goals
  • Pays 10/11 (PaddyPower/William Hill)

Hannover score twice in the final quarter of an hour to not only rescue a point but to land today’s BOTD to make it three winners in as many nights 👍🏼💷
