Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day see’s me focus on two sides that are at home and who I fancy to record routine victories against struggling sides. Combining both matches gives us a nice odds against double.
Fiorentina vs Salernitana
🇮🇹 Serie A
⏰ Saturday 11th December, 14:00
Two sides who have had contrasting seasons meet at the Artemio Franchi as Fiorentina host Salernitana. The hosts come into this weekend in 6th and only behind Juventus on goal difference. The visitors on the other hand are rooted to the foot of the table, four points from safety.
Fiorentina claimed an impressive 2-3 win away to Bologna last time out to make it three wins in their last four matches in Serie A. Whilst that was their first victory on the road since the end of September, Fiorentina have been far more consistent at home, winning each of their last four, including an eye catching victory over league leaders Milan. In those four successive victories at home, Vincenzo Italiano’s side have scored 13 goals, scoring at least three on each occasion. I Viola have scored in every home game this season, with only three sides scoring more than their tally of 17.
Salernitana suffered yet another defeat last time out as they were comfortably beaten 2-0 by league leaders AC Milan. That’s now six games without a win for Stefano Colantuono’s men, collecting just a solitary point against fellow strugglers Cagliari in that time. Salernitana have a wretched record against top half sides, losing seven of their eight matches, collecting only a draw against 10th placed Hellas Verona. Only Spezia have a worse defensive record in Serie A than Salernitana, with I Granata conceding 33 goals from their opening 16 matches.
Sporting Lisbon vs Boavista
🇵🇹 Liga NOS
⏰ Saturday 11th December, 20:30
The champions will look to gain another victory as they play host to an out of form Boavista at the José Alvalade. The hosts come into this in 2nd, only behind leaders Porto on goal difference. The visitors, meanwhile, are in 11th and only three points above the automatic relegation places.
Sporting come into this after defeating city rivals Benfica 1-3 in their own backyard in what was an impressive performance. That’s now eight successive victories for Ruben Amorim’s men and they still remain unbeaten in Liga NOS. Sporting have the best defensive record in the league, conceding just five goals and keeping eight clean sheets in their opening 13 fixtures. Sporting have a terrific record against sides in the bottom half, taking 19 points out of a possible 21.
Boavista conceded in stoppage time last time out to draw 1-1 at home to fellow strugglers Marítimo. That draw ended a run of three successive defeats but Boavista remain without a win in their last 10 matches in Liga NOS. Boavista boast one of the leakiest defences in Portugal, with no side conceding more away from home than them, conceding 15 goals in six matches. Boavista have already been beaten by fellow title chasers Porto and Benfica away from home, losing 3-1 and 4-1 respectively.
Bet of the Day
Fiorentina have won three of their last four in Serie A and will fancy their chances collecting another victory as they host bottom side Salernitana. The hosts have won each of their last four at home, scoring 13 goals and should be too strong for a Salernitana side that’s lost five of their last six and who have the second leakiest defence in the whole of Serie A. Sporting Lisbon will come into this full of confidence after defeating city rivals Benfica 1-3 at the Estádio Da Luz last time out. That’s now eight successive victories in Liga NOS for Ruben Amorim’s men and they should make it nine at home to strugglers Boavista. The visitors are without a win in their last 10 and have conceded 15 goals in their six away games and I’m backing the champions to record a straightforward victory.
