Tuesday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the Champions League qualifiers and in particular, the match involving my own side.

Rangers vs Union Saint-Gilloise

Champions League Qualifier

⏰ Tuesday 9th August, 19:45

Rangers will look to keep their hopes for qualification to the group stages of the Champions League alive, as they bid to overturn a two-goal deficit against last year's Belgian runners-up Union Saint-Gilloise at a packed-out Ibrox.

Rangers bid to regain the Scottish Premier League title from rivals Celtic has begun well, as they followed up their 1-2 opening day victory away to Livingston, by defeating Kilmarnock 2-0 on Saturday afternoon. After losing their first home match in the group stage of the Europa League against French side Lyon last season, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side then went on to win five and draw one of their next six in front of their own supporters, including memorable victories over Braga and RB Leipzig. The Gers scored 15 times in their last six European matches at Ibrox, scoring on multiple occasions in each of them.

After earning promotion to the Belgian top-flight for the first time in 48 years, it proved to be a memorable campaign for the 11 times champions of Belgium, as they finished top of the table, before eventually finishing second to Club Brugge in the post-split. It’s been a mixed start to the season domestically for Karel Geraerts’ side, as they have taken just four points from a possible nine to leave them lying in 11th position. Les Unionistes have failed to win both of their fixtures away from home in the Belgian Pro League this season, losing 3-0 away to Mechelen at the weekend.

Bet of the Day

Rangers have it all to do if they are to keep their hopes of playing Champions League football alive after their 2-0 defeat in Belgium last week, but they’ll be confident in doing so at what will be a loud Ibrox tomorrow evening. Ibrox proved to be a fortress for Rangers on route to the Europa League final season, with Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side having won five of their seven matches in Govan last season (W5-D1-L1), winning each of their last three against Crvena zvezda, Braga and RB Leipzig.

Rangers scored 15 goals in their last six European matches at home, scoring on multiple occasions in each and given new striker Antonio Čolak grabbed his first competitive goal at the weekend, as well as returning fans favourite Alfredo Morelos also getting on the scoresheet on Saturday, I’m happy to back my side to get on the scoresheet at least twice at what will be an atmospheric Ibrox tomorrow evening.
