Football Bet of the Day: Expect to See Some Goals at Somerset Park on Tuesday

After seeing my winning run end at seven in Germany on Saturday, The Football Bet of the Day returns on Tuesday sees me head to the Scottish Championship, and one fixture in particular catches my eye for goals.

3rd-placed Partick Thistle travel to Somerset Park to take on 5th-placed Ayr United in the Scottish Championship tomorrow evening in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Scott Brown’s hosts have scored 34 goals across their opening 25 matches in the Championship this term, with 12 (35%) of them coming on home soil. The Honest Men have made the net bulge in 9/12 (75%) of their league outings in front of their supporters – including in each of their previous seven – and will look to hit the target once again against a Jags defence that has kept just four clean sheets in the Championship this season, with just one of those coming across their last 16.

Kris Doolan’s visitors are the second-highest scorers in the Championship, slamming in 47 goals across their opening 24 matches, with 24 (51%) of them coming on their travels. The Jags have found the back of the net in 20/22 (91%) of their Championship matches when excluding contests against league leaders Dundee United – scoring on multiple occasions in 15 (68%) of them – and will be confident of adding to their goal tally against an Ayr defence that has kept just two clean sheets across their last 11 league matches on home soil, shipping multiple goals in eight (73%) of them.

Partick Thistle’s opening 24 Championship fixtures this season are averaging a league-high 3.63 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals copping in 20/24 (83%) of them – and given the same has landed in 18/25 (72%) of Ayr’s league encounters this term – I’m happy to have a punt on there to be at least three strikes, with the free-scoring visitors scoring at least one of them, a selection that has landed in both previous league meetings this campaign.
