Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the Premier League, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.
⚽️ Newcastle United vs Aston Villa
🏴 Premier League
⏰ Saturday 17 October, 17:30
Entertainment looks on the cards at St James’ Park on Saturday Night Football as Newcastle United plays host to Aston Villa.
Matthias Jaissle’s hosts have scored 10 goals across their opening six Premier League fixtures this season, with six (60%) of them coming in front of their supporters.
The Magpies have gotten on the scoresheet in all six (100%) of those clashes, scoring 2+ goals in four (67%) of them – including in each of their opening three encounters in front of their supporters – and will look to breach a Villa defence that has kept a solitary shutout in the Premier League this season, shipping 11 goals.
After scoring just once across their opening four clashes in all competitions this term, Unai Emery’s visitors have fired in an impressive 18 goals across their next six.
The Villans have found the back of the net in each of those previous six matches – scoring 2+ goals in each of their last four and five of their past six – and will look to continue their recent form in front of goal against a Newcastle backline that has also recorded a single clean sheet in the Premier League this campaign, shipping 13 goals.

Bet of the Day
Newcastle’s matches under Matthias Jaissle this season have been fun to follow, with their six matches in the Premier League averaging an eye-catching 3.83 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals landing in five (83%) of them.
Aston Villa’s last six matches in all competitions have averaged a whopping 4.50 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score landing in five (83%) of them, whilst all six (100%) have gone Over 2.5 Goals.
Both teams are in good goal-scoring form – but given they’re both vulnerable at the back – I’m expecting a high-scoring encounter, with both attacks contributing at St James’ on Saturday night.
- Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals
- Pays 4/5 (bet365)
