Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the big match in the National League and I’m expecting an entertains encounter.

⚽️ Chesterfield vs Notts County

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 National League

⏰ Saturday 21st January, 17:20

Two clubs in the hunt for promotion to the Football League go head-to-head at the Technique Stadium on Saturday teatime, as fourth-placed Chesterfield host table-toppers Notts County.

Chesterfield head into this fixture in great form, with their 4-1 success over Scunthorpe in their last league outing made it seven wins from their last eight National League fixtures – as well as their sixth in-a-row at home. Paul Cook hosts have found the back of the net in 22/23 of their league outings this season, scoring on multiple in 18 of them. However, The Spireites have registered just five clean sheets in the league this season, with just two of those coming across their previous 16.

Notts County saw their lead at the top of the National League table cut to three points, as they could only draw 1-1 at home to Boreham Wood last time out. That equaliser ensured that The Magpies have found the back of the net in all bar one of their 27 league fixtures this season, scoring on multiple occasions in 20 of them. However, Luke Williams’s side have struggled defensively on their travels this season, keeping just three clean sheets across their 14 road trips this season.

Bet of the Day

Chesterfield and Notts County have been absolutely banging the goals in this season, with The Spireites scoring 28 goals across their 12 home fixtures, whilst the Nottingham-based visitors have struck a whopping 42 goals across their 14 away league matches. Given the pair have found the back of the net in 48/50 (96%) of their league fixtures this season, it’s extremely likely both will get on the scoresheet here.

Collectively, Over 2.5 goals has landed in 34/50 (68%) of their National League fixtures this season and given the firepower both of these sides possess, I reckon we could see a similar scoreline to the 2-2 pair produced in the reverse fixture in August.

There’s been some people knocking Greg for his recent poor run, his analysis is top drawer for sure, two things to note for me A, It shows how fickle both teams to score & overs can be & B, If your betting around evens then to make any meaningful profits your strike rate has to be so high. Talking about the fickle nature on the both score no draw market I go for a double with the biggest prices on the Hills coupon with no analysis whatsoever, pays over 10/1 and shows consistent profits.
