After a lack of goals in Perth downed Wednesday’s Football Bet of the Day, Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me keep faith in the Scottish Premiership, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

The bottom two in the Scottish Premiership meet at Dens Park on Saturday afternoon as 11th-placed Dundee hosts 12th-placed St Johnstone in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.
Tony Docherty’s hosts are the joint fourth-highest scorers in the Scottish Premiership, slamming in 40 goals across their opening 28 matches, with 26 (65%) of them coming on home soil.
The Dark Blues have made the net bulge in all bar two of their opening 14 league outings in front of their supporters – notching on multiple occasions in seven (50%) of them – and will look to trouble a Saints defence that has kept just one clean sheet across their previous 13 Premiership encounters on the road, shipping 2+ goals in 10 (77%) of them.
Simo Valakari’s visotors have scored 31 goals across their opening 28 matches in the Premiership this season, with 15 (48%) of them coming on their travels.
The Saints have found the back of the net in 21/23 (91%) of their Premiership fixtures when excluding meetings with The Old Firm – as well as in eight of their previous nine road trips – and will look to trouble a Dundee defence that has kept a solitary clean sheet in the league this season, conceding a league-high 60 goals.

Dundee’s opening 14 Premiership fixtures in front of their supporters this campaign have averaged a whopping 4.07 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in 13 (93%) of them.
St Johnstone’s opening 28 matches in the Scottish Premiership this term have averaged three goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in 19 (68%) of them, including in seven of their last nine and eight of their past 11 on the road.
What’s more, goals have been a feature in recent meetings between the pair, with the last five averaging 3.40 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in all five (100%) of them – including both clashes this season (1-2 & 1-3) – and backing goals is the way I’m happy to approach this crucial clash at Dens Park.
