Football Bet of the Day 23rd august

Sunday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the MLS, and I’ve highlighted one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals.

⚽️ Portland Timbers vs Seattle Sounders

🇺🇸 MLS

⏰ Sunday 1 September, 03:30

Cascadian rivals the Portland Timbers and the Seattle Sounders face off at Providence Park in the early hours of Sunday morning in a fixture that appeals to me for goals.

Phil Neville’s hosts are the second-highest scorers in the MLS, slamming in 54 goals across their opening 26 matches in MLS this term, with 34 (63%) of them coming on home soil.

The Timbers have found the back of the net in all 13 (100%) of their league contests in front of their supporters – notching on multiple occasions in 11 (85%) of them, including in each of their last eight – and will look to maintain their impressive goal-scoring record against a Sounders defence that has kept just two clean sheets on their travels this term, shipping multiple goals in 8/13 (62%) of them.

Long-lasting Seattle head coach Brian Schmetzer has seen his side score 37 goals across their opening 26 MLS matches this term, with 18 (49%) of them coming on their travels.

The Sounders have made the net bulge in 10/13 (77%) of their MLS road trips, including in eight of their previous nine – striking on multiple occasions in five of their last eight – and will look to get on the scoresheet once again on their travels against a Timbers backline that has registered just four shutouts in the MLS this campaign, with just two (50%) of those coming at home.

Bet of the Day

Portland Timbers’ opening 26 MLS matches this term are averaging a league-high 3.85 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals clicking in 20 (77%) of them.

Those numbers rise further when in front of their supporters, with their opening 13 MLS encounters on home soil averaging a staggering 4.31 goals per game, with Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals banking in 11 (85%) of them – and given the same has landed in seven of The Sounders last nine away and 9/13 (69%) overall on their travels – I’m happy to have a punt on there being a minimum of three strikes, with both of these sides contributing, a selection that also landed when the sides last faced each other here in May.

  • Both Teams to Score & Over 2.5 Goals
  • Pays 10/11 (Betway)

Write ups top notch👍 just team performances aren’t going to plan which unfortunately you have no control over,I picked a couple of teams I fancied but didn’t bother betting as got sick of the unpredictability, 3 teams I chose for goal bets won but were last minute goals, didn’t care as wouldn’t have enjoyed it and don’t get the same buzz as I used too, personally I don’t need the money so realised it was habit rather than enjoyment,if I had a crystal ball then…..😉,
