Euro 2024 Bet of the day

Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the Belgian Pro League, and there’s one fixture that stands out to me for goals.

⚽️ Westerlo vs Union Saint-Gilloise

🇧🇪 Pro League

⏰ Saturday 25th February, 19:45

Union Saint-Gilloise will look to keep pace with league leaders Genk as they travel to the Het Kuipje to take on seventh-placed Westerlo in what promises to be a highly entertaining affair.

Westerlo stretched their unbeaten run in the Pro League to five matches last Sunday, as they won 0-1 away at 10th-placed Sint-Truiden. However, after winning four of their opening five league outings as hosts, Jonas De Roeck’s side has gone on to win just two of their next eight matches in front of their supporters. Westerlo has found the back of the net in 12/13 of their Pro League fixtures as hosts, scoring on multiple occasions in 11 of them.

Union Saint-Gilloise saw their 17-match unbeaten run in the Pro League come to an end last time out, as they were beaten 2-4 at home to sixth-placed Standard Liège. Karel Geraerts’s visitors have been victorious in eight of their previous 10 road trips in the Belgian top-flight (W8-D2-L0) but come into this having drawn two of their last three. Les Unionistes have failed to find the back of the net in just one of their 26 Pro League fixtures this season, scoring on multiple occasions 17 times

Bet of the Day

Quite simply, this match should see goals. Westerlo has scored 31 goals across their 13 league matches as hosts, whilst Union Saint-Gilloise has banged in 28 strikes across their 13 Pro League fixtures on their travels.

Over 2.5 goals has landed in seven of Westerlo’s previous eight Pro League fixtures as hosts – with six of those breaking the over 3.5 goals barrier – and given the same has banked in nine of Union Saint-Gilloise’s last 12 league matches on the road, I reckon there’s a strong chance we’ll see at least three strikes between these two attack-minded sides.

  • Over 2.5 Goals
  • Pays 22/25 (Unibet)
