Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the French Ligue 1, and there’s one fixture in particular that appeals to me for goals at both ends.

Two clubs separated by only one place and two points in the Ligue 1 table meet at the Stade Gabriel Montpied as 8th-placed Clermont welcomes 10th-placed Lorient in a fixture that appeals to me for goals at both ends.
Clermont have scored 40 goals in Ligue 1 this term, with 18 of those coming on home soil. Pascal Gastien’s hosts have found the back of the net in 12/18 of their Ligue 1 fixtures in front of their supporters – including in 10/11 against sides currently positioned below them in the table – and will look to breach a Lorient defence that has recorded just three clean sheets on their travels this campaign, with just one of those coming across their last 14 league outings.
Régis Le Bris’ visitors have scored 50 goals in the French top flight this campaign, with 26 of those coming on their travels. Les Merlus have found the back of the net in 28/36 of their Ligue tussles – including in 16/18 when on the road – and will look to trouble a Clermont defence that has registered just four shutouts at home this season, with only two of those coming across their last 15 matches.

Both Teams to Score has banked in a league-high 14/18 (78%) of Lorient’s Ligue 1 fixtures on the road this season – and given the same has landed in seven of Clermont’s previous nine league outings – I’m happy to have a punt on both of these sides getting on the scoresheet this evening.
