ITS the final day of the transfer window and last-minute deals are being rushed through as Jim White does his excitable buffoon routine on Sky Sports.
Moves in the offing today include ins and outs at Chelsea with Juan Cuadrado set to join from Fiorentina for £23million, Andre Schurrle leaving the Blues for Wolfsburg and Danny Ings' future still up in the air at Burnley.
North of the border one of the best young talents in Scottish football, St Mirren midfielder Kenny McLean, is poised to sign for Aberdeen after the Dons had a bid accepted and Celtic have been linked with plenty of players and are expected to squeeze in or two in through the window.
Post all your transfer deadline chat and breaking news here – for example if you've sensationally spotted Paul Pogba in a Little Chef off the M6 as he prepares to tie up a shock loan move to Blackpool – and let's hope Mr White makes it until midnight without having a transfer hype induced cardiac arrest.
So the inevitable finally happened. Stuart Pearce leaves florist to join the long list of ex-managers who still draw a salary.
Agent Pearce did a sterling job turning the 2014/15 championship winners ( their season ended at the end of August ) into joint 17th in the league.
Now they have Dougie Freedman at their helm. If its consistency you want, it Freedman. His typical form for every 3 games is 1 win, 1 draw, 1 loss.
I hope he continues to entertain Derby County fans with the same standard of football that we have enjoyed laughing about for so long.
I shall be tuning in to Radio Nottingham for the fans moan-in @ 6pm. Can’t wait, I’ve been devoid of belly laughs since Virmin-media realised they’d been sending me free Uk Gold down my freeview cable and turned it down just after new year.
Strange appointment with Freedman. Surprised Pearce lasted as long as he did though. Started off the season in fantastic form, then went on a horror run. The fact he’s a club legend was probably why he managed to hang on to his job for so long
I totally agree with you. Maybe the ” Wow ” factor of appointing him had something to do with it, and from the 1st game, they hit the ground running. The start of the season ANY team is capable of beating anyone, largely I would think due to lack of match fitness/sharpness teams start slowly. After half a dozen games, you get a very slight idea of how the league is going to play out and although I didn’t expect Florist to be in the playoffs, I never expected them to self-implode in such a catastrophic way. Their current form is relegation form. People forget that the gulf that existed last year between Derby and Florist was 20 points. We’re 28 games in to the season and already, that points gap has been reached.
When they played Derby a few weeks back, they were aweful in the first half and they kicked the crap out of Hughes who was pulling all the strings in midfield. When they took him off in the 2nd half, Florist grew into the game and although Derby never really had much of a sniff at goal for much of the match, the game should of been sewn up well before their late goals.
In all competitions, Derby have only conceded twice in 8 games, ironically against florist.
Up until the middle of last season, if you count the first half of that season and the whole of the previous season, we only had around 12% of our games keeping clean sheets. We were scoring and winning, but conceding too. Now, we seem to be scoring and conceding far less.
They say attack is the best form of defence and since McClaren came in about 1/3 of the way into last season, he swaps to an attacking 4-3-3, our defenders have improved and that has shown in much of this season so far.
I’m looking at the rest of the games left, and there are not many games that I think Derby should worry about.
In 14 home games, we’ve scored 20 and conceded 12 I think. With all these clean sheets of late, I would say we are a better side for it. We’ve not seen anywhere near the number of high scoring games that we saw last year BUT we’re winning with clean sheets.
Paul Pogba in a little chef!! Loool
Need this transfer window to shut ASAP!
Grays getting closer to leaving by the looks of it, wouldnt mind losing him to a decent club but b’mouth FFS
Graeme La Saux spotted in the Countdown studio-Could be signing a contract for Bolton or trying to work out the conundrum
Gray be signed up for a Bournemouth within the hour.
As posted on other thread:
West Brom to make the most signings.
Managed to get 3/1 at William Hill (who’ve now removed the betting for this)
Best price available is now 3/1 at Bwin. PP have it at evens.
Just an update on West Brom’s transfer activity:
The latest reports suggest West Brom are in for 3 players:
Darren Fletcher, Neil Taylor and Carlton Cole. There is also talk of a deal to sign Capoue from Tottenham (deal maybe dependant on whether they sign Fletcher or not would be my guess)
So far there has only been a couple of dealings but it all seems very quiet on the transfer front. My gut feeling is that nobody else is going to sign more than two players so if West Brom can bring in at least two it should result in a payout.
***Obviously I don’t have inside knowledge and is a structured bet on latest reports. West Brom have sold their striker Ideye and Dorrans is on the verge of a £4m move out the club as well. Movement out normally suggests incoming transfers as well.
Stoke could be signing 2 more young Barcelona players and also aaron lennon. They currently have Muniesa and Bojan from Barcelona.
You can get 16’s on Stoke. West Brom now cut to 13/8. Just heard they are in for a winger as well. Maybe scuppering the Lennon move?
Apparently lennon is on huge money at Spurs so they are trying to offload him.The problem is spurs want the club who loans him pay all of his wages instead of just a percentage that a lot of loan clubs do.
Just out of interest do loan deals count for most signings? or is it permanent transfers only?
Why was my post deleted? It was about my club so how could that offend anyone??
J-bcfc, it was a fair point but included an unacceptable word
Craig I couldn’t find anything on bwin website I am probably just being thick
CSKA Moscow striker Seydou Doumbia signs for Roma at 10.8 million.
Its been removed off their now Danny T. Best price is 13/8 with Betfair.
Everyone else is 7’s or upwards, either the noises from Sky are tempting people to lump on West Brom or the bookies have inside info.
I see. I think I will continue with looking at tomorrow’s games but I really hope it lands for you mate
Cheers mate. I notice Palace are now at 4’s
To be fair I only took West Brom at 3’s because it was too big. Knew they would be looking to do several deals today.
13/8 for a transfer window bet is too short though.
Yeah I think a stake at 3’s would have been ok like
West Brom back at 3’s on Betfair because of Zaha’s signing for anyone who wanted a nibble.
J-Bcfc you won’t be posting about Gray as a Birmingham player he’s down at Bournemouth having a medical.
As an Everton fan I will be keeping a keen eye to see what’s happening, obviously looking for those leaving as opposed to arriving.
Looks like Gary Mackay Steven & Stuart Armstrong are off too Celtic tonight for £250k & £1.6 million + add ons.
What a lack of ambition on Dundee Utd’s part. In a cup final in 6 weeks time, against Celtic, and they go and sell 2 of their best players to them!
No chance of winning the cup without them, and they can kiss goodbye to challenging for 2nd or even 3rd place!
I appreciate they can’t hold the players careers back, but GMS was going there in the summer, is it really worth letting him go for £250k when they are still in both cups, in the final of 1 of them, and challenging at the top of the table? That’s the difference between finishing 2nd & 3rd. If they finish 4th & miss out on Europe they’ll regret taking a paltry £250k!
Armstrong they wanted £2.5 million for, yet accepting £1.6 million + add ons, why not hold off til the summer and sell him then?
German forward Andre Schurrle has completed a £22m move to Wolfsburg.
Small stake on Aaron Lennon moving to QPR.
12/1
Bet Victor
The later it gets the more likely a loan deal for Lennon will be arranged.
QPR isn’t far away from his current home and I can imagine Lennon would prefer to stay in the city and would be open to working with Redknapp again.
Kenny McLean completes his move to Aberdeen from St Mirren on a 3 & a half year contract for a fee of £300,000
Aston villa trying to sign ricky lambert from Liverpool.
I see the Saints have released the ghost Greg! Also rumoured to be interested in signing Fraser Fyvie as a replacement after Wigan released him earlier this afternoon. Good piece of business if you get him.
Was a cracking prospect a few years ago. His progress seemed to have stalled due to several injury problems in his final year or so with us before his move down south. Not seen or heard much of him since so be interesting to see how he fares wherever he ends up.
SWP potentially moving from QPR to Brighton on loan. Paving the way for a winger to come in? Lennon anyone?
Liverpool to sign ross barkley
Gonna wait until the summer!
Derby are trying to sign Tom Ince from Hull.
Potential and overdue movement at the Hawthorns:
Rumours of Darren Fletcher to West Brom are getting stronger.
Graham Dorrans move to Norwich will see the full back Olsson moving the other way.
Aston Villa’s initial move for Liverpool striker Rickie Lambert met with a cool response but they may not have quite given up yet – and a straight cash offer of around £5m might just tempt the Reds to change their stance on the 32-year-old.
£5m for a 32 year old striker who has barely had a kick this season shows how desperate Villa are getting.
Surely Ings could have been signed for that kind of money and a lot more potential?
rangers bringing in 5 or 6 players on loan from Newcastle
anyone in any doubt Ashley is not running the club now?mmmmmmmmmmm
Apparently 6 newcastle players going to rangers on loan.
Aidy, gray is nowhere near b’mouth! Hes staying put! Never used to mind them small time southerners but the way theyve gone about trying to get gray has p*ssed us off
Rangers are hopeful of concluding loan deals for four Newcastle players before the midnight transfer deadline in Scotland. Gael Bigirimana, Haris Vuckic, Kevin Mbabu and Remie Streete are the players involved. Newcastle owner Mike Ashley has recently agreed to lend Rangers £10m.
Apparently 3 players is the max allowed on loan from a single club, which would rule out Rangers signing 5 on loan from Newcastle.
Good move from Ashley though to send 3 players out on loan making Rangers pick up the wages, saving him some money at Newcastle and burning through the “emergency loan” just that bit faster. Cue another emergency loan before the seasons out, secured against Ibrox, which is the only asset Rangers have left that Ashley doesn’t have a hold over!
Rangers fans will as usual gloss over all this and
all the talk will be about Ashley helping Rangers out, challenge for the League back on, Cisse/Tiote coming on loan next season to aid a Premiership title challenge ect ect.
Anything Mike Ashley does with Rangers is to benefit him and him only!
Barkley to Liverpool haha dream on Mint.
Talksport saying Newcastle have asked rangers to pick 4 players from 6.
Liverpool offer Lambert for £5 million but villa offered £2 million :)
Liverpool offer Lambert for £5 million but villa offered £2 million :)
Ha ha j-Bcfc seems that way mate he played against my team Leeds earlier in season he is quality . We got let off with a draw in that game he was on fire against us I think he came on as a sub with our crap defence he terrorised I would like him at Leeds . Bournemouth do have the money to buy him but don’t think howe will pay 7 or 8 million for him . believe me they are no small side nowadays i live down here.
forest green just captured the double signing of messi and bale.
according to the daily sport.lol
mint, Nat is a miss but I wud prefer to spend my Monday evenings with Kate Abdo & Hayley more ;)
Kate as the best teeth I have ever seen :D when my missus smiles her tongue looks like its behind bars :(
Dave,
Kate and hayley are a couple o honeys!
But oor Natalie is just next level :-P
Gray isnt worth nowhere near 7-8m yet hes goin thru a quiet spell at the mo not effecting games at all but giv it a few years an he will be worth that much, in our situation tho at the mo with our owners cant believe we didnt except the cheeky 2.5m
Zaha back to palace haha, what a waste of £15 mill by Man utd. If Celtic get Armstrong and GMS for under 2 million that’ll be great for the future and with the going ons at Inter we may still have a chance of shocking Mancini in 2 wks time
I feel Rowett believes Birmingham can challenge for premier next season so wants to keep gray . He will only get better hes got the talent but whatever Rowett wants gray will go.
Great day for Hibs yesturday with Scott Allan staying and the offers from Dundee United were a joke
also the signing of Fraser Fyvie just what we needed
JohnB – Fyvie was a cracking prospect a few year back, he seemed to be going backwards towards the end of his time with Aberdeen due to injuries and lack of form.
Wish him well at Hibs, and if he recaptures his early Dons form I wouldn’t mind having him back at Aberdeen for next season.
all the talk will be about Ashley helping Rangers out, challenge for the League back on, Cisse/Tiote coming on loan next season to aid a Premiership title challenge ect ect.
Anything Mike Ashley does with Rangers is to benefit him and him only!
!!!!! premiership challenge, if if if ..they make the play offs and win through :)
