IT’S been two tales of one city in recent weeks with Everton moving up and Liverpool in freefall.
The Toffees are unbeaten in eight since losing to their great rivals just before Christmas.
Liverpool have played 10 games this year and won none. They’ve exited both cups and slipped to fifth – 13 points adrift of pacesetters Chelsea.
Everton have what the Reds don’t – a prolific scorer in the shape of Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian hit four against Bournemouth last week to take his tally to 22 this season.
He netted in the 3-1 home defeat of Middlesbrough and I’m backing to score against them today. He is 13-10 with Paddy Power to score and 77-20 at Marathonbet to break the deadlock.
Boro don’t have a Lukaku either and have bagged just three goals in five outings – one against Accrington in the FA Cup – so I’m on Everton to notch an away win at 11-10 with bet365.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool aren’t in action until tomorrow with Spurs the visitors to Anfield. While they’ve struggled recently against the likes of Hull, Wolves and Plymouth their record against top-six sides this season is superb – four wins and three draws.
That includes a 1-1 draw with Chelsea two weeks ago when I advised backing the Blues draw no bet for exactly that reason.
On form you can’t back a Liverpool win but they may avoid defeat so again I’m on Spurs dnb at 6-4 with Marathonbet. For the straight victory they are as big as 5-2 with McBookie.
The early game is an interesting one between Arsenal and Hull and I don’t know anyone who would risk hard cash on the Gunners at a best 4-13 (188BET).
Arsene Wenger’s men lost their last home game to Watford and face a revived Hull who have beaten Liverpool and Man United in recent weeks as well as drawing at Old Trafford.
I backed Hull not to lose to Liverpool and the same bet at 11-4 with McBookie looks value as does both teams to score at evens with betfair.
Elsewhere in the Premier League I expect Stoke to beat a terrible Crystal Palace side and they are evens at Ladbrokes and William Hill.
Sunderland hammered Palace 4-0 last week and will be confident when Southampton visit. Keep the draw on side and take Sunderland draw no bet at 9-5 with McBookie.
In the Championship Brighton need to get back on track after three games without a win and should do so at home to Burton. They are 1-2 at Ladbrokes and William Hill.
Homes look good in this league – Fulham against Wigan, Derby against Bristol City and Leeds against Cardiff.
The live game could be a cracker as FA Cup giantkillers Wolves take on Newcastle. Paul Lambert’s men won 2-0 at St James’s Park in the EFL Cup in September and are looking to bounce back from last week’s shock defeat at Burton.
I’m tempted by Wolves dnb at 17-10 at Marathonbet but best bet is both to score at evens with 188BET.
Exeter are on a brilliant run in League Two and are worth a look at 2-1 (888sport) at Plymouth.
