Our European football expert, Paul Watson gives us some insight into tonight’s LA Liga fixtures
Hercules v Barca
A fascinating statistic from this one is that in the last three La Liga meetings between these sides … Hercules have won all three.
In fact, it was their win at the Nou Camp at the start of the season which set an impossible task for anyone to follow, with that result the only blip on Barca’s record.
A double chance on Hercules to draw or win pays out at 5-1 and I wouldn’t rule it out. Sure, there’s always the chance Barcelona could turn on the magic and roll away with a 6-0 win but Hercules have only lost at home three times this season, one of the best in the league, so could surprise the leaders again.
Barca are no value at a biggest 1-6 at Totesport while Hercules, who have incredibly won the last three meetings between the sides, will have backers at 18-1 at Chandler. A repeat of the 2-0 win in the Nou Camp they clocked up pays 150-1 at Paddy Power. A safer bet is 11-10 with Stan James that both teams score.
In David Trezeguet (4-1, William Hill), Royston Drenthe (7-1), Javier Portillo (6-1) and Nelson Valdez (11-2) they have people who’ll take chances and can be counted on for goals.
Levante v Getafe
Getafe have taken just one point from the last 15 – but Levante are rock bottom and look every bit like a team full of players wondering where they’re headed in the summer.
If Azulones can get back to the sparkling form that saw them end last year on an eight-game unbeaten streak, they’ll coast this. I’ll put in a little faith that they will and go with Bet365’s 6-4.
