As the US Open continues, we’re bringing you a Draper vs Machac prediction and betting tip. Any tennis punter will find this tip fascinating, as it’s an excellent one with a lot of value, though some might find it controversial.
Both Jack Draper and Tomas Machac have performed really well so far at the event. With a quarter-final up for grabs, both will be motivated. Only one can win, though, and for us, that will be Tomas Machac.
Player form: Draper slightly better
Each is in good form, as this run at the US Open proves. Winning three matches doesn’t happen by chance, but mostly because you’re doing something right, and they’ve done plenty right.
Draper, though, had a good showing in Cincinnati as well, so he grabs the slight edge in terms of form heading into this matchup.
How the bookies view it: Brit ahead
Draper is favoured to win this one, and by a good amount. He’s been given generous odds of 1/2 to win the match compared to 8/5 for Machac. This shows you just how much tennis bookmakers are favouring the Brit to win.
Recent head-to-head: Machac leads 3-0
Draper and Machac have played three times so far, and the Czech player has been able to win all three of those. Most of them were close, but Machac was still able to come out on top, and that will factor heavily into our bet.
Anything else catch the eye?
One thing that stands out is their track record. Draper has been on heaters like this in the past, but it’s not uncommon for him to lose them. He beat Alcaraz in Queen's earlier this year, only to lose the next match.
There is a trend here, and he might do so again because he’s facing a player he hasn’t beaten before. Machac generally doesn’t drop form like that. He usually gets beaten by a better player, and we’re not sure Draper is that right now.
Tennis-wise, they’re about equal. However, Machac just has these moments of inspiration that elevate him in most matchups, and we expect he’ll find it again here.
Having beaten Draper in all three of their matches so far certainly backs that up.
