Player Form: Alcaraz Had the Tougher Path
Obviously, any time two players get to the final of a Grand Slam, they’re in good nick.
Ahead of the tournament, however, it was Alcaraz who was in the better form by far. The Spaniard won the French Open in Paris last month, as well as Indian Wells earlier in the season. He’s been the consistent second-best player in the world, just behind Jannik Sinner.
The same can’t be said for Djokovic. For the first time in over a decade, he actually hasn’t looked that flash. Wimbledon is the first final he’s made all year, with uncharacteristic losses and injuries marring the opening six months of his season.
However, the Serb has played his way into form this tournament. His most recent two matches have been straight-set wins over seeds, and he dispatched Holger Rune and Lorenzo Musetti with no issues.
For Alcaraz, he’s had a tougher time. The 21-year-old has dropped sets in every match since the second round. Most recently, he saw off Daniil Medvedev and Tommy Paul, but not without dropping a set in each.

Somewhat surprisingly, bookmaker Betfred has Alcaraz ahead in this clash. The defending champion pays 7/10 to win, with Djokovic on 5/4. Bookies can’t decide if it will be three or four sets for the Spaniard, with each paying 16/5.
