Best French Open Bets Today

Tsitsipas to Beat Altmaier 3-1 @ 9/4

We’re picking Stefanos Tsitsipas to win the whole tournament here in Paris, but we expect he’ll have his work cut out for him on Wednesday afternoon.

Standing in Tsitsipas’ way in round two is Daniel Altmaier. The German is a tricky opponent, with a knack for being a tough-out at Grand Slams. Of Altmaier’s last eight losses at Grand Slams, he’s won at least a set 75 percent of the time.

This time last year, he defeated Jannik Sinner in an epic five set match in the second round. Already this season, Altmaier has defeated Alexander Zverev. The last 12 months have also seen the German take sets off top 20 players Karen Khachanov and Tommy Paul.

Tsitsipas, meanwhile, has dropped sets in each of his last three Grand Slam second round matches. This time two years ago, he played a four hour, six minute match against world No. 133 Zdenek Kolar to reach the third round.

Back Altmaier to make this one tricky, but Tsitsipas to get home in four.

Hurkacz vs Nakashima First Set Tiebreak @ 9/2

No 8 seed Hubert Hurkacz takes on 2022 NextGen champion Brandon Nakashima in the second round on Wednesday. We see an excellent opportunity for the first set to be nice and tight here.

Hurkacz, after obliterating Rafael Nadal for the loss of four games just a fortnight ago, was dragged into a tough five-setter to open his Roland-Garros campaign. The Pole survived, but qualifier Shinhito Mochizuki definitely took a chunk out of him. Nakashima also got through a tight clash, dropping a set to wildcard Nicolas Moreno de Alboran.

With both coming into this clash a little beat up, conditions are perfect for a close first set. Especially since Hurkacz specialises in tiebreaks. The world No 8 regularly plays the most breakers on Tour, courtesy of his big serve but relatively weak baseline game.

With juicy odds of 9/2, give this one a stab.

Gauff vs Zidansek Total Games Under 16.5 @ 1/1

Coco Gauff showed off her skills in round one, romping past Julia Avdeeva 6-1, 6-1 in just 52 minutes. We expect her to put on a similar spectacle against Tamara Zidansek on Wednesday.

The American is one of the best front-runners in the game, rivalling Iga Swiatek in her ability to get on and off the court quickly against lesser opponents. Having just reaped the rewards of a quick match in round one, we expect Gauff to bring similar energy against Zidansek.

Zidansek’s path to this match couldn’t be more different to Gauff’s. The Slovak had to make her way through qualifying, with her last three matches all going the distance. Running on fumes, and up against the ruthless Gauff… This could get ugly.
