THE BUNDESLIGA outright winner odds market has seen some interesting shifts, with Leverkusen facing an uphill battle to retain their crown. While Bayern Munich are red-hot title favourites, there is a hot contest behind them for second place.
Best Bundesliga outright winner odds
Bayern Munich – 1/14
After putting a run of four straight wins together before the November international break, Bayern Munich’s title odds were cut even further. Averaging more than three goals per game and with plenty of squad depth showing up, Vincent Kompnay’s men are still firm favourites in the Bundesliga outright winner market.
Star striker Harry Kane tallied 36 goals last season, and he probably has another 30+ goals in him with Bayern playing to his strengths. Interestingly, Kane is available at 11/4 odds within the Bundesliga top scorer outright market to net at least 40 league goals this season.
Bayern Munich’s last three Bundesliga titles came from an average of 75 points per season. But a new bar has been set and Bayern Munich have to up their game, meaning they are 6/4 to at least match the 90 points Leverkusen earned last season.
Bayer Leverkusen – 11/1
Reigning champions Bayer Leverkusen have now drifted out to 11/1 but have found wins much harder to come by this season. A run of unbeaten form before the November international break only saw the champions post a W1 D5 record, so haven’t turned the corner yet.
Bayer Leverkusen achieved an unbeaten campaign last season (W28 D6). A repeat of that is already impossible, so it’s about consolidation and another top-four finish. Die Werkself added new faces over the summer including Aleix Garcia, Martin Terrier and Jeanuel Belocian.
They have had to build a deeper squad because of the new demands that come with the pressure of the UEFA Champions League, but the difficult thing for Bayer Leverkusen is finding a new level to fend off a stronger-looking Bayern Munich.
Best Bayer Leverkusen odds to win the Bundesliga without Bayern: 8/11
RB Leipzig – 11/1
RB Leipzig has emerged as a potential title challenger, or at least runner-up, and has recently shortened in the Without Bayern Munich market to 3/1 from 11/4. Leipzig has made itself difficult to beat this season and has had an extremely mean defence that’s kept them in the hunt.
The Red Bulls finished seven points outside the top three last term, but they should be back in the running for another top-four finish this season and are odds on (at 4/9) to do so. Manager Marco Rose was busy over the summer adding to their squad, with the likes of Antonio Nusa and Lutsharel Geertruida joining.
Leipzig were but fell down badly in matches against the three teams that finished above them. But their outsider price in Bundesliga outright winner odds has been cut in half since pre-season, and the Red Bulls maybe have more substance than being flat-track bullies.
Best RB Leipzig odds to win the Bundesliga without Bayern: 2/1
Borussia Dortmund – 50/1
The odds on a title for Borussia Dortmund keep getting longer. A great season at the Signal Iduna has not been backed up on the road. They are in an unpredictable rebuild mode, and their away form could hamper any title bid. BVB has drifted further to 10/1 in the Without Bayern Munich market, but if they fix things on their travels, they could still make a decent shout for runners-up.
There's a ‘new broom' feeling to the club right now, with unproven head coach Nuri Sahin taking over and a big clear out of players, including veterans Niclas Fullkrug, Marco Reus and Mats Hummels. Dortmund’s big summer signing was striker Serhou Guirassy, who scored 28 goals in 28 Bundesliga matches last season for Stuttgart. He is a tempting 12/1 shot to be the Bundesliga top scorer this season.
Best Borussia Dortmund odds to win the Bundesliga without Bayern: 7/1
Eintracht Frankfurt 150/1
Frankfurt finished sixth in last season’s Bundesliga and while they are massive outsiders for a shot at the title, the 16/1 quote on them to finish second may have appeal. Only Bayern Munich have scored more goals in the Bundesliga this season than Frankfurt, and their powerful, exciting attack could see them stick in the race
Best Eintracht Frankfurt odds to win the Bundesliga without Bayern: 16/1
Who will win the Bundesliga? Here’s our prediction
Bayern Munich are the overwhelming favourites to get the title back, and it’s hard to see any other outcome. Because Bayer Leverkusen will be tested with Champions League football, and RB Leipzig don’t carry the biggest of attacking threats, Borussia Dortmund could make a surprise run at second spot.
The swathe of changes makes it hard to see Dortmund in the title picture, but there is a big new energy sweeping through the club, making them a decent 7/1 shot in the w/o Bayern Munich market.
