THERE are two top-six battles in the EPL at Christmas – but you’d have got long odds at the start of the season on one of them featuring Sunderland.
But for now it’s more wonderland than blunderland for Steve Bruce’s side whose next big test comes at Man United on Sunday.
Having beaten Chelsea 3-0 away this fixture should hold no fears for the Wearsiders, especially with keeper Craig Gordon in great form.
However, United showed in their last home match with Arsenal they can be ruthless at home and could win to nil (10-11, Paddy Power).
Don’t expect the kind of 7-1 bashing Blackburn took. There could be one goal in it so consider Sunderland minus two at 10-11 (Stan James).
Just to win it’s 2-7 United with Hills and 12-1 Sunderland at Chandler while Wayne Rooney, who missed a penalty against the Gunners, is 11-4 to score first with Ladbrokes and bodog among others.
Arsenal and Chelsea wait until Tuesday to meet at the Emirates and this could be a draw.
Best bets on Monday could be Spurs who face an inconsistent Aston Villa side. Villa’s home record is decent but I fancy the White Hart Lane men at 7-5 at Stan James.
There will be plenty of Carroll singing if Newcastle hero Andy hit the opener against Man City. He is 6-1 with Coral and this is another that could finish all square.
Blackpool are as big as 4-1 to beat Liverpool but I’d back them on the handicaps at 5-4 with Coral plus one.
Everton should beat Birmingham after their superb win at Chelsea and Bolton can continue their great home form by seeing off West Brom.
