DESPITE their run to the World Cup semi-finals in Russia this summer England manager Gareth Southgate is aware his team are yet to beat one of the big countries under his watch.
And despite the home advantage of Wembley today 10Bet believe that wait might continue with opponents Spain the marginal favourites for victory at 7-4. England sit just behind at 9-5 while the draw is a shade over 2-1.
That might be because Spain remain a more talented side who looked impressive before they imploded on the eve of the World Cup and should now be expected to get themselves back on track.
But England are a settled side, will be full of confidence and their strengths of getting on the front foot and playing to Harry Kane could expose Spain’s summer weaknesses at the back. The double result on the England win or the draw is 1-2.
Six of England’s last nine victories have come by a one-goal margin and given they are unlikely to cruise past Spain it is 3-1 for this one to finish in similar fashion. That would bring in the 1-0 and 2-1 scorelines in England’s favour which 10Bet offer at 6-1 and 10-1 respectively.
The England win with both teams scoring is 5-1 but, reflecting how close the game is likely to be, the oddsmakers consider the 1-1 draw the most likely result at 5-1 which would also bring in the score draw at 16-5.
As ever England’s main threat comes in the shape of Kane. The Three Lions captain has hit form earlier than usual this season with his first goal in August so shouldn’t still be feeling his way into this campaign. Kane is 13-10 to score at any time and 4-1 for the first of the game.
Jesse Lingard was one of six England players to score at the World Cup and offers value at 4-1 for a goal. Harry Maguire, who also scored in Russia, has already scored for his club this season and offers even more returns at 11-1.
Six of England’s last 10 matches have also seen an early goal for one side or the other and it is 13-5 with 10BET for a goal in the first 15 minutes of this game.
