Wolves v Man City
Premier League. Kick-Off: 12.30pm, Saturday August 25th. Live on Sky Sports HD
PEP GUARDIOLA'S boys in blue take on Nuno’s Wolves and look set to make it 3 out of 3 with the minimum of fuss.
After swatting away Arsenal in their opening match of the new season, City put six past Huddersfield Town on Sunday to lay down a real statement of intent to the rest of the Premier league.
While the summer transfer window has only just closed, the Premier League champions have already been linked with a January move for Wolves maestro Ruben Neves, whose free-kick helped Nuno Espírito Santo’s side earn a point in their first game back in the top flight against Everton.
Saturday will be the 118th meeting between the two sides with the record between the two a tight one. City have won 47 of those; Wolves have 46 wins.
Team news
While De Bruyne does not require surgery he will be out of the first-team picture at City until October at the earliest. Guardiola has no other fitness concerns to contend with however.
Benjamin Mendy’s superb early form has given City a “new dimension”, says the manager, and it allows him to name both Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus in his starting XI with the France international offering plenty of width down the left.
Mahrez and Sterling will be hoping for returns to the starting 11 having dropped out for the game against Huddersfield.
Matt Doherty was on the receiving end of a nasty challenge from Jamie Vardy that saw the Leicester striker sent off on Saturday. The Wolves right-back escaped any real damage, however.
Adama Traore came off the bench that afternoon and could be in line for a full debut having become Wolves’ record signing this summer.
Leander Dendoncker’s presence in defence or midfield might be required to keep City out; Nuno opted against including the Belgium international against Leicester but after another full week of training with his new club, he could be in contention.
I can’t see anything other than a City win they are short as can be expected at 2/9 look for value in goals though as Man City -2 is 10/3.
Sergio Aguero looked razor sharp and even pep said he hasn’t seen him like this consider him to score first at 12/5.
Recomended bets
- Man City -2 10/3 @bet365
- Sergio Aguero to score first 12/5 @bet365
- David Silva to score anytime 3/1 @bet365
Personally think wolves will put up a decent fight.. best of luck ?
I think they’ve been unlucky the past couple games but feel City have too much class for them
My main bets this weekend. I think Wolves wil get a hammering. I’ve already put 3 bets on the City game. 2/3 pts Including, first half City @1.70, over 3 goals @ 1.80 (I think) and -1.5 full time City. @1.79.
Mendy has given them a lot more width this year and with the guys in the middle able to pick out a needle in a haystack. Wolves will be on the back foot throughout. I.m.o
Yeah I agree ? If they put 6 past Huddersfield then they can put at least 3 past wolves, Aguero hat trick could be on the cards again for me
As a Wolves fan I hope your wrong. Tough game is an understatement.
The only teams to get results out of Man City are teams that have had a go and give City something to think about defensively. We drew 0-0 in the Carabao Cup last season and whilst City had their chances we defended very well and created the best chances of the game.
If you defend and sit eleven blokes behind the ball with no ambition to attack is when you’ll get done.
Wolves will have a go today and whilst we might concede 3 or 4, we’re more than capable of netting ourselves. One bet I absolutely love and believe is well over priced:
Wolves to score 1+ and 4 Wolves corners, 4/1, SkyBet

Rid our luck at times, but I think we were more than worth a point today. Nuno Had a Dream :)
