A couple of near misses on Thursday with The Bold Thady missing out by a whisker.
I thought Danny McMennamin gave The Bold Thady an absolute peach of a ride, which fully deserved a win. He snuck him into the race and delivered at the right time, but the eventual winner kept finding.
Ucanaver drifted out to 16/1, so in hindsight, she would've been a great ew bet, but tipped up at 11/2 I wasn't tempted to back her ew at that price.
Doncaster 4:20 – Hawthorn Cottage
HAWTHORN COTTAGE is a mare who has shown plenty of ability over the years, the main problem for her is that she blows hot and cold and when she is either of them, she is red-hot or she is terrible, today I'm hoping she is on form as this race looks very winnable.
The drop back in trip to 2m 4f looks like a good idea, as though she does stay further, she will have the stamina required for this galloping track with a long straight which can often see the back markers making up a lot of ground and winning in the final furlong. But knowing she does stay further than today's trip is a positive for Amy Murphy's front-running mare.
She is a front-runner who can jump extremely well when getting in a rhythm. I think that will be key to her success today as you do see it quite often that when they aren't in a rhythm, especially at a track like Doncaster they just fall apart.
Today's ground will be perfect for her and I can see her shortening closer to the off-time.
You beat me to it Rizzel I was gonna put that one up you rascal ! I’ve had a few nice returns on that horse ! The best one when Duncan pound cake put it up at 12/1 one time I’ll see if I can dig another loser out !

not trying to put people off the cottage, after being spectacularly “wrong” last week but brendan powell lands in the mud too often for
me. followed him since his bridgewater days, now top lad at tizzard’s so could be worse but doesnt ride for amy murphy. horse is five above last win (huge margin but farce of a race) so not without chances back on his ground/trip.
only thing of relevance i would add is BANDEY/BANNISTER have two at Doncaster today, they are one of the best smaller stables around, winning 1 in 4 races over the last two years.
just noticed also, over jumps JACK QUINLAN, amy murphy’s only main man, he is at the track and not on board, which is VERY disconcerting.

Haven good weekend Postman I’m giving it a by till Saturday bar a few in USA tomorrow night for entertainment as it’s a huge weekend Stateside with Kentucky Derby preps and big races in the own right. Lot more than last few years certainly and bar triple crown weekends probably biggest with G1-G3 and Stakes/listed races a plenty .

Gearux Rocket Ride is less at 7/1 box h Bet365.
On bare form the top 2 look the obvious but Geaux Rocket Ride beat a very good 101 rated horse on debut who’s won a half decent race by plenty and Practical Move is freshened up and still lightly raced.
Told by owners to take 25/1 e/w last night before the fav came out on Mews House last race Newcastle 12/1 now , 13/8 ,4 places with Skybet GL

jockey/trainer dont team up often but had a winner together on AW 3 weeks ago. trainer over jumps with her man man nathan moscrop just bolted up, dont follow tips like this, but no harm with a couple a quid. often find most insider info, which often comes from ewt, is useless. best to stick with form etc. but we are on hers hoping.

Under Control…2.50 was 15/8 Was 8/11 early but now 15/8 Bet365 and bit of money elsewhere for it.

19.15 BALLYARE was put up here just over a year ago when winning around 8s, think it mightve been khairzy who put him up. was a close 3rd lto with solid looking form, same jockey now gets to take 3lbs off and the horse dips his toes into a C5. winning jockey oisin orr at track but cant claim and rides for fahey now so isnt an issue. around 8s again, with 4 places paid, looks worth a nibble if wanting an interest.

Has him beat before over course and distance so for treble the price+ and the same amount of racing under both horses @rses along with a 7lb claim from “bug rider” on board again aka an amateur jockey (who knew?) who should know more he’s got to be a bet. Place is 6/4 I’m not one for Ew of anything less than 8-10/1 and it’s only 2 places.

First at Golden Gates looks a winner but only with an NR and Rule 4 in place which has just happened with Nauvoo or it’s been backed and i didn’t notice.
No harm no foul but it been nice to get them earlier with Skybet.
Also I’ve just thought that’s probably or exactly why Skybet put odds up a lot later and pay the exact price stated unlike Bet365 which makes sense.m, if you can grab it before though it’s a good thing for USA.
