Wolves next manager odds

Following Wolves' defeat to Ipswich Town on Saturday, Gary O'Neil was dismissed at Molineux and if rumours are to be believed, then the club aren't too far away from appointing their next manager.

With Wolves currently in 19th position in the Premier League, there is very little time to waste as the club look to respond and secure their place in the division ahead of next season.

Who is currently in line to be the next Wolves manager? Here is how the market is currently shaping up.

Based on current forecasts, Wolves are reportedly keeping an eye on the Championship with two of the top five favourites currently plying the trade in English football's second tier. John Eustace and Carlos Corberan are both in the promotion hunt with their respective clubs but a chance to join the Premier League this winter could be an offer too good to turn down.

Steve Cooper started off as the early favourite to become the next Wolves manager after he was spotted in Wolverhampton last week but his odds have since tumbled to 25/1, making him very much an outsider for the job at this stage.

Current favourites

Vitor Pereira – 1/5

The current heavy favourite to become the next Wwolves manager is Vitor Pereira at 1/5. Pereira is currently the manager of Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab, but reports indicate that Wolves have already been in touch with them about paying the compensation to break the 56-year-old from his contract.

In many ways, this appointment would make a lot of sense, not least due to the ongoing connection between Wolves' owners, Fosun Group, and Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes.

From a competitive point of view, Pereira's appointment presents a lot of risk. He has never managed in the Premier League before and he isn't someone who typically sticks around. He has managed four clubs in the past four years and has only stayed longer than a year in one of his last six jobs.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – 6/1

The current second-favourite to land the Wolves job is former Man Utd boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Norweigan hasn't had a job in football since his departure from Old Trafford in November 2021, but a chance to prove himself again in the Premier League would likely appeal.

This would certainly be a roll of the dice from the Wolves board. The last time a club employed Solskjaer to save them from relegation was Cardiff City in January 2014. The Norwegian failed on that occasion, with the Bluebirds finishing rock bottom.

Carlos Corberan – 12/1

West Brom manager Carlos Corberan is frequently a name thrown around when a Premier League manager loses their job, and he is once again in the mix this time around. Corberan has a good reputation in the Championship, and many feel he is punching above his weight at the Hawthorns, given the squad he has at his disposal.

Making the move from West Brom to Wolves wouldn't be for the faint-hearted, though, and how well he would be received at Molineux after managing the Baggies for three seasons isn't clear.
