Today’s tennis tips will be from the China Open, which is a WTA 1000 premier event that’s beginning today. These first days might not see the big names playing, but we found some good value for you this Wednesday.
Best tennis tips and predictions today
The first match of today’s tennis betting tips is between Qiang Wang and Alycia Parks, where we’ll back the underdog to win. The other pick is Sofia Kenin getting beaten by Ana Bogdan, which is another surprise we’re backing to happen.
Wang to defeat Parks @ 17/10
This pick is a rather interesting one because it’s mostly based on a hunch. Alycia Parks is a supremely talented player, a baby Serena in some ways because she looks like her on the tennis court.
Her level is far from Serena’s because she’s still quite raw as a player and doesn’t have perfect control over her skills. The serve is amazing but very spotty. The baseline play can be up and down, and we think in hostile territory that won’t be enough.
Wang is a native player who was once ranked 12th in the world, and that’s the type of level which doesn’t evaporate. She hasn’t played like that in a very long time, but it’s still in there somewhere.
Maybe playing at home will unlock it, and she’s had some decent performances in the past. It’s mostly a spotty play as we’re going to back Wang to upset Parks because she’s the home player and likely will overachieve when it comes to the level she’ll produce.
The odds being as juicy as they are is just a major boost.
Bogdan to defeat Kenin @ 6/5
Ana Bogdan is a very solid tennis player who on most days produces a strong level. That’s very important because we’re going to back her to do just that against Sofia Kenin, who once was a superb player but not anymore.
It’s hard to say why the former Grand Slam champion isn’t able to find her old level, but it’s mostly a combination of confidence with just streaky play. Kenin hasn’t looked confident in her game for a very long time.
Her record this year is 9-21, and her last win was a while ago at the US Open. While Kenin can produce a level good enough to beat Bogdan, we’re backing her to not do that. It’s mostly based on a hunch and Bogdan being as solid as she is.
It’s a very risky play, but as she’s beaten Kenin in the past, it’s not entirely impossible to happen.
