Wednesday’s football tips: Expect more thrills as City chase Bernabeu comeback

Armchair fans will be hoping for a repeat of last week's Champions League thriller when Real Madrid and Manchester City renew hostilities at the Bernabeu tonight.

I thought City's defence would struggle to cope with Real's superstar strikers in the first leg and they shipped two late goals in a demoralising 3-2 defeat.

But the response at the weekend was terrific as Pep Guardiola's men battered Newcastle 4-0 and that has raised hopes that a comeback in Spain may not be beyond them.

Real Madrid could only draw 1-1 with Osasuna on Saturday but Carlo Ancelotti's side always come alive on the big stage and will be out to finish City off.

It's not in Real Madrid's style to defend a one-goal lead at the Bernabeu so this should be another cracker with City pushing to get back into the tie.

Sporting Lisbon face a daunting task turning their Champions League play-off with Dortmund around after losing 3-0 at home in last week's first leg.

The Portuguese side have been written off ahead of the Westfalen return, with BoyleSports making them 25/1 outsiders to reach the last 16.

PSG are really starting to motor now, with 11 wins and one draw in their last 12 games, but Luis Enrique might rest a few players for this one with the tie effectively over.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was a marquee signing in the January transfer window but started the first leg on the bench as he's still finding his feet. The former Napoli star may get a chance to impress from the start here and if the Georgian does, he looks good at 6/5 for anytime scorer. He's also 5/2 for an assist which may offer more value.

Brest won 6-3 on the corner count in the first leg so backing them for over 3.5 corners in Paris could pay off at evens.

PSV vs Juventus top betting tips

Juventus did me a turn by beating PSV in the first leg of their Champions League play-off but this tie is very much in the balance as they have just a 2-1 lead to protect in the Netherlands.

Juve have one of the best defences in Europe but they will need to stand firm as PSV throw everything at them in a bid to turn this tie around.

I fancy the Dutch side to win a few corners as they crank up the pressure and over 6.5 PSV flag kicks pays 13/10 at BoyleSports. The card count could rack up too in such a tight tie and over 47.5 booking points appeals at evens with Betfred.

For longer odds, a double on midfield foes Joey Veerman and Manuel Locatelli going into the book pays a whopping 20/1 at Bet365.
