Bodo/Glimt thumped Linfield 8-0 to book their place in tonight's qualifier against Zalgiris and they appear to be getting close to the kind of form that's seen them rule in Norway and impress in Europe for the last few seasons.
The sides met at the play-off stage of the Europa Conference League last season and of course it was the Norwegians that came out on top. They looked to have secured a first leg lead before being pegged back in the 94th minute but they got the job done at home where a 1-0 win saw them progress 3-2 on aggregate.
That was a tighter match than when they met for a one-off Europe League qualifier the year before. It was a rout in the Arctic Circle as Glimt ran out 6-1 winners.
The way the bookies have priced this one up they think it could be a comfortable night for the Eliteserien champs. Kjetil Knutsen's are 1/3 to win but Zalgiris proved themselves to be no mugs themselves, knocking out Swedish Champions Malmo in the previous round. Not much appeals in tonight's other qualifers but both Qarabag and Ferencvaros have been involved in high-scoring games so far in the competition so it might be worth opposing the bookies at 23/20 on there being over 2.5 goals.
There's a raft of EFL Cup games tonight and tomorrow. It was difficult enough trying to predict the opening weekend of the season in the Football League so good luck if you're getting involved in those.

This is a bet builder I like the look of and when I break it all down, you’ll see why. The Icelandic premier league is breaking in to different mini divisions. The top 2 (Vikingur and Breidablik) are way better then the rest, then comes the middle ground teams (3rd to 8th – Valur are 5th) and then the bottom 4, who are all pretty hapless and very poor. FH are 3rd bottom and 3 pts off the bottom so easily fit in to the bottom sub division. What I’ve noticed is very, very rarely do teams from a lower mini division beat a team from a mini division above them.
Therefore 4/11 on Valur double chance looks a very generous start to the bet builder, especially as FH are winless on the road (played 6, drawn 1, lost 5). They’ve only scored 3 goals away from home. Valur have played 7 at home, winning 5 and losing 2. Looking deeper in to the losses, one came against 2nd place Vikingur (no surprises there) and the other was a result of them getting a freak red card after 25 mins which also resulted in a penalty – game over. Freak red card permitting, the double chance section looks very secure.
On to corners. Valur have hit 4+ corners in EVERY home game (12,7,6,4,6,8,11). In a game where they should be on the front foot and dominating for long periods, you’d expect them to carry on their 100% record of hitting just 4 or more.
Finally, on to the goals. Valur have played 14 games this season and all 14 have seen at least 1 goal. At home, all their 7 home games have gone over 2.5 goals so we should easily see just the 1. FH have only seen one 0-0 in their 14 games and none at all in away games. Giving this section of the bet a 97% success rate.
As you can see, where everything broken down, I’d say this bet has a very good chance of landing. Fingers crossed the stats and contextual analysis comes good for us. Good luck all 👍🏻
