Berrettini to Defeat Kotov 2-0 @ 4/5
Matteo Berrettini is storming back into form, with the Italian winning his ninth title over the weekend and cracking the world’s top 50.
Often the first match after a title is a danger zone, with players still fatigued from their deep run the week before. However, Berrettini is the kind of player that runs hot and doesn’t struggle to back up. Of his eight previous titles, only once has he lost first round the next tournament. Several times, he’s gone on to make significant runs in back-to-back weeks, in fact.
We’re not concerned at all about the level he’ll bring against Pavel Kotov in Kitzbuhel. Back him to go through the Russian in straight sets.
Both Players to Win a Set in Van Assche vs Fognini @ 13/10
Luca van Assche vs Fabio Fognini, however, we predict will go the distance.
Fognini comes into Umag off the back of a fine streak of form. The Italian veteran made the third round of Wimbledon, securing an impressive win over No. 8 seed Casper Ruud. He backed up with a quarter-final appearance in Gstaad last week.
Van Assche, on the other hand, has been a little dicier. The Frenchman is still only 20 years old, and has been playing a mix of Challengers and Tour events. Recently, he navigated his way through Wimbledon qualifying, before falling in the opening round.
Expect this to be an evenly matched clash, with each winning a set. Go flip a coin for the outright winner, however, as it’s down to which man turns up on the day we say.
