The Shanghai Masters has started, and we’re bringing you the best tennis betting tips for the second day of the event. These early rounds feature some very interesting matchups, and we’ll bring you some of the best tips for Thursday, 3rd October.
Best tennis tips and predictions today
In our first tip, we’re going to back a very close clash between Matteo Berrettini and Christopher O’Connell. Then, we have a prediction for a very interesting French player winning in Shanghai, in another fascinating encounter.
Berrettini vs O’Connell over 21.5 games @ 4/6
Straight away from the odds, you can see that this matchup is one which is expected to feature lots of games. There are many reasons for this, but it’s mostly due to the courts in Shanghai playing somewhat fast.
That benefits good servers and makes it easier for players to hold serve. Berrettini has a massive serve and, for the most part, shouldn’t run into too much trouble here. The question mark is O’Connell.
He has a good skill set with a strong serve and is capable both at the net and from the baseline. If we add into this the fact that Berrettini isn’t the most aggressive returner, we have a pretty good baseline for a 7-6, 7-5 type of match.
That would be enough to cover this 21.5 line, and we do expect this one to hit. O’Connell has been playing lots of tennis lately, so he’s in good form. Berrettini hasn’t played much, so he might be a bit rusty.
All of that contributes further to the likelihood of this hitting, so this is one of our two best tennis tips for Thursday.
Atmane to defeat Kovacevic @ 5/6
This is a somewhat interesting value bet we dug up for you because Terence Atmane and Aleksandar Kovasevic are players that aren’t mentioned much when it comes to the ATP Tour.
They’re solid competitors who have similar skill sets with powerful serves and generally aggressive and attacking styles. Atmane, in our opinion, is the better baseliner out of the two, and it’s why we’re backing him.
That being said, Kovacevic has played some of his best tennis in Asia over the years, so he’s certainly going to be tough here. Atmane has played more tennis lately though, which likely will benefit him here.
We like the matchup because we can see Atmane taking over the match simply with his baseline play. Kovacevic is solid but lacks major weapons outside of his serve, so overall, we favour the Frenchman.
With odds like this, it just makes too much sense to pass up.
