Monfils +5.5 Handicap vs Alcaraz @ 4/5
Gael Monfils takes on Carlos Alcaraz in the second round of Cincinnati. The Frenchman took out Montreal champion Alexei Popyrin in straight sets in the first round, while Alcaraz had a bye and hasn’t played since the Olympics.
We think Alcaraz will win this one comfortably. But, backing Monfils to make the +5.5 handicap is the best bet.
Monfils is in sharp form, as evidenced by his first-round win. Alcaraz will inevitably be a tad rusty and spray a few errors while he finds his radar after some time away from the racquet. He’ll find it, and he’ll win, but Monfils just needs to get to three or four games in each set to make this bet pay–feels quite likely to us.
Ruud vs Auger-Aliassime Over 23.5 Games @ 4/5
Casper Ruud and Auger-Aliassime will be a fascinating match up, with the Canadian just upsetting world No. 8 Ruud in Paris a fortnight ago. The pair’s head-to-head sits at 3-3 as well, indicating how tight this clash is.
Honestly, very tough one to pick. Auger-Aliassime has won the last two, but it would be quite a surprise if Ruud didn’t bounce back here. However, expect a good match that covers the 23.5 game market.
Draper to Beat Tsitsipas @ 8/5
We thought Stefanos Tsitsipas was going to have a tough time against Jan-Lennard Struff yesterday, and we were right. We think he’ll have an even rougher ride against Jack Draper.
Draper is a lefty, and will be able to target Tsitsipas’ backhand brutally. He’s beaten the Greek before, and while it’s not a sure thing, if you’re after a high odds punt, think about backing him to do it again on Thursday.
