It’s Silverware Sunday with Wimbledon, the Scottish Open, the Under-19s Euros and the CONCACAF Gold Cup all coming to a conclusion.
Armchair fans are in for a treat and the action kicks off at SW19 with a thrilling match-up between champion Novak Djokovic and world No.1 Carlos Alcaraz.
Djokovic hasn’t lost a match on Centre Court since Andy Murray beat him in the showpiece a decade ago.
And the Serb is the odds-on favourite today at a best 8/15 with BetVictor while young gun Alcaraz is 17/10 at Paddy Power.
It has the makings of a classic so I fancy over 40.5 games, which pays a best 10/11 with Paddy Power.
Rory McIlroy leads the way at the Scottish Open but it’s a tight leaderboard with just three shots separating the top nine.
Bad weather is forecast so that should help British and Irish players, with McIlroy 6/5 at Coral to finish the job.
Scotland’s Bob MacIntyre sits just five shots off the lead and is 10/1 at Betfred for a top-five finish.
Italy will be out for revenge in the Under-19s Euro showpiece after losing 5-1 to Portugal in the group stage.
The Portuguese won all three matches in their section then battered Norway 5-0 in the semis so they look decent value at evens (Bet365) for a win inside 90 minutes.
Italy are 13/5 outsiders but outgunned Spain 3-2 in their semi so will still fancy their chances.
Although both sides have been scoring freely, finals are often cagey so backing between 2-3 goals also appeals at evens with Bet365.
The CONCACAF Gold Cup brings down the curtain on a big weekend of sport and those staying up late to watch the action could see history made.
Panama has never won the competition before but will need to defy the odds to get their hands on the silverware.
Mexico are red-hot favourites at just 1/4 (Bet365) to lift the trophy with Thomas Christiansen’s side as big as 16/5 at Betfair in the same market.
The Panamanians dumped co-hosts the USA on penalties in the semis after a 1-1 draw but the match ended 0-0 at 90 minutes.
The final could also be tight and the half-time draw looks good at 11/10 with Unibet.

Carlos Alcaraz v Novak Djokovic
The final that everyone had hoped for which has the potential to be an absolute classic. Fingers crossed it is not a let down like the ladies final and the men’s semi finals all of which never really lived up to the hype. So delving into the stats to see what may stand out to separate these two. Both players have been serving very well and have won an incredible amount of service games, Djokovic slightly ahead here 97% to 94%. However, something that has really surprised me is that it is actually Alcaraz that has the better return stats up to the final. He has better stats in returns in, returns won on both 1st and 2nd serve and return winners. Alcaraz has also generated more break point opportunities and has a higher break point won percentage. What could be key in this match is the Djokovic serve. He has been serving so well up to this point, arguably the best he ever has at Wimbledon, and will need to continue against the excellent return skills of Alcaraz. Another important factor could be the second serve differential in regards to serve speed. The Alcaraz 2nd serve is over 6mph on average faster. If he is to make in roads on the Djokovic service games he will need to ensure he punishes any slower 2nd serve in order to try and get the upper hand in the rally. With everything that Djokovic has achieved at Wimbledon you would be a fool to write him off and he is obviously still the favourite in this one seeing as he is trying to equal Federer’s 8 titles here. Added to the fact that Alcaraz is still very raw on grass despite his quite incredible improvements this year and the service still favours Djokovic. In regards to the head to head this is currently 1-1. Djokovic winning the most recent semi final at the French Open in 4 sets before Alcaraz won in 3 sets at the Madrid masters in 2022. In regards to my prediction on the winner of this matchup I would still lean towards Djokovic but either way I do expect a 4/5 sets match here. So on that basis I am going to instead opt for the total games market. Given the strong serving performance of both players to this point there is every chance of at least one tie break which would really help with the total. Another area I am going to focus on is the aces market in relation to Djokovic. As pointed out he has been serving extremely well so far and hit 11 aces in a straight sets win over Sinner last time out. He is currently averaging 11 aces per match and with the expectation that this could be a long one there is a great chance we can see similar numbers again if not more. In the previous two head to heads Djokovic also hit 8 aces in both matches, despite being played on clay. On a faster service you would therefore assume that this can be achieved in this match. Although the 15 or more aces for Djokovic is a long shot if this goes to 5 sets then it has every chance and is worth a small play.

Alcaraz a great price at 13/8 but it wont be easy. Djokivic wont get to control this match could be a few twists and turns.
You can currently get Djokovic 9+ aces for 2.1 @ PaddyPower/Betfair. Skybet is also offering 2.0.
PaddyPower has a boosted Turbo price of Djokovic to win & serve 10+ aces @ 4.5 (Maximum £10)
Cheers MJT, for another great write- up, very informative.
Throwing all my eggs in one basket, and opting for
Djorkovic to serve 10+ aces @ 6/5 with Skybet (requestabet up to 5/1)
Hoping for a memorable 5 setter.
Good luck with all punts today!!!!
I think you are right chelseagirl. I expect the final to change momentum on several occasions. Alcaraz has certainly been getting better and better as the tournament has gone on and has a chance which is better than you can say for most people who have played Djokovic over recent years. I just can’t being myself to backing against Djokovic just yet especially at Wimbledon. Will be hoping for a great match with plenty of games and aces!
As Chris quite rightly pointed out you can now get better odds at Skybet and Paddy Power for the 9+ aces. Both of them have increased the line they had yesterday which was originally set an ace lower than everywhere else.
I was very tempted by the 10+ aces williegee. Should have a good chance. Even if it only went to 3 sets with 1 or 2 tie breaks Djokovic could get 3 or so aces in each set. I do really think this has the makings of a classic so here’s hoping it’s not a let down.

K2 leaders Gyeongnam look well priced at 10/11 to net 2+ against a Jeonnam side who sit in 7th. They are the leagues top scored with 36 in 18 games while only the 2 sides that are adrift at the bottom of the table have conceded more than Jeonnams 33 goals
Gyeongnam have won 5 in the bounce scoring 2+ in all 5…3-1,4-2,2-1,3-2 & 2-0
Jeonnam have conceded 10 in 4 aways to teams above them in the league
Reverse fixture finished 5-0 to Gyeongnam although Jeonnam did receive a 1st half red card when 1-0 down

Given KALSINGH1977’s poor grasp of basic addition, it’s no great surprise he consistently loses his bets.
Then again, his reading & writing skills aren’t up to much either. I personally blame the Irish education system 😉
A great tip from GMC 1976 yesterday for Spartans to win @ 10/1.
Cheers. Utd looking well wobbly for going back up. Or cruising it. Just cant see them scoring a lot of goals.
Won some bets of them last year. Pssed when the season ended….
The Irish education system is just fine.. south of the border anyway! It’s his parents that are to blame.. the apples don’t fall far from the trees and all that
Ah yes, fitzy, I forgot about the inbreeding in his family.
Explains his baIdness, dwárfísm & lack of social skills too 👍😄
You mistook the units for the odds mate-units were 1.5 and the odds 2.0. The guy looks like he puts alot of thought into his bets and gives valid reason for us to follow…it’s what we crave for onn here. Personally don’t know a thing about tennis so won’t follow but really hope he comes back fir when the football starts would keep keen wye on his tips for sure. Keep them coming MJ
Cheers Paul. It’s a simple mistake to make so I won’t hold anything against KALSINGH1977. I just didn’t really like the comment of me regularly skimming units when it’s a case of them being misread. I have changed how I write the units now so hopefully this makes it clearer to read and will avoid any confusion in the future.
Looking forward to the new footy season starting and will be posting my plays on here as well. Along with some NFL when the season starts in September.
Chrisbax that’s pretty disgusting stuff no one wants to read stuff like that mate. No need fir personal attacks on anyone. I’m up for a bit fun and banter but saying stuff like that is uncalled for. You need to let go of whatever someone has done to you in the past or you will just suffer mentally mate
Fine I hold my hands up . I read it wrong. But mjt you have even wrote today that it was 2 units on the first bet and 1.5 on the 2nd bet. It was 1.5 on first and 2 on 2nd so even you got it wrong today.
And Chrisbax I actually live in glasgow so go and get your facts right. Never been to ireland in my life
Cheers Paulm no need for comments like that
My post this morning starting my units from Saturday, was simply in order of highest to lowest to make it clearer that it was 5.5 units and not 6 as you kept insisting.
You say you read it wrong but it would appear you have done this on a number of occasions given you accused me of regularly skimming units.
Anyway, no point in going over this as I imagine this is not what people want to read on this forum.
Good luck with your bets today KALSINGH1977 👍

Having watched the semi final between Spain v Italy I was impressed by how the Italians took the game to Spain, normally you would associate Italy in football playing tight defensive football but they are anything but and create a hell of a lot of chances. Portugal are no mugs but even so I don’t see them keeping the Italians out.. I do expect Portugal to win this game but not without conceding and if Italy show the same tenacity then this could be a goal-fest..
Best of luck

San Lorenzo to score 21-20 (NAP) 🇦🇷
At HILLS
2 low scoring teams, newly promoted this season belgrano have been tight at home conceding just 7 in 11 games.
San Lorenzo meanwhile have conceded just 9 in 11 away games.
(At home San Lorenzo played 13 and conceded 0 goals, remarkable feat that is but irrelevant as this is away)
San Lorenzo are in between 2 copa sudamerica games but won 1-0 in Colombia 3 days ago so hopefully will focus more on this as they should wrap that up on Thursday.
They should do as a win today puts them within 2 points of tallares in 2nd spot and an automatic Copa libertidores spot next season with a couple of games left and also keeps them clear in 3rd and with that goes a qualification round to get into the libertidores next season.
Obviously not going to be a goal fest as odds of 2-1 for BTTS suggest.
San Lorenzo look too big a price at over EVENS to score here but bookies don’t often get it wrong do they !!!
Might be an idea to have the 0-0 correct score as a side bet 9-2 as it’s possible with these 2 teams.
Let’s hope San Lorenzo can sink belgrano today.
But don’t shoot the messenger if they don’t, don’t be a lazy punter look through the form and decide for yourselves
Prediction 0-1

Double was a disaster though, been a very up and down weekend betting wise, ended up just a tad over where I started it but if the Brazilians come through later then that would change.

First half Red card and a missed penalty for valmine saw to that 😱
A really good final full of momentum swings. Djokovic was strong favourite going into the 5th set only for Alcaraz to once again turn the tide. Thankfully the over 40.5 total games comes in but some really poor serving from Djokovic and inspired returning from Alcaraz see’s the 3 aces selections fail miserably.
I am still struggling to get my head around Djokovic only serving 2 aces in a 5 set match at Wimbledon. Especially as he hit his first ace in just his second service game of the 1st set. Before this match he was averaging 3.3 aces per set this tournament and just under 2.3 aces per set in their previous head to head matches. If you had told me beforehand that it went to 5 sets then I would have expected a minimum of 10 aces. Certainly a head scratchier that’s for sure!
Anyway, that meant a loss of -2.5 units on the day and a slightly disappointing last couple of days. Although not my best Wimbledon, in the end still a decent profit of just under +20 units over the course of the tournament.
