The curtain comes down on 2021/22 Premier League season on Sunday and SlipsTips has lined up a double involving two sides who are heavily fancied to finish the season with three points.
Leicester City vs Southampton (Sunday, 16:00)
Leicester City will be bidding to secure a top-half finish in the Premier League when they square off with Southampton at the King Power on the final matchday of the campaign.
The Foxes are currently ninth in the table, while the out-of-sorts Saints sit 15th heading into the last weekend of the season.
After what has been an underwhelming campaign, Brendan Rodgers’ side are finishing the season strongly and they will fancy their chances of signing off with a victory against a Southampton side that look like they have downed tools.
Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side have won just one of their last 11 games, with the south coast outfit crashing to defeat in no fewer than eight matches from that sample.
What’s more, the men from St Mary’s have conceded a minimum of two goals in each of those aforementioned eight losses, not to mention the visitors have leaked 2+goals in 21 of their 37 top-flight outings this term to date.
With this in mind, as well as Leicester's recent upturn in form, I’m more than happy to back the hosts to strike twice here as the first half of an even-money (Bet 365) double.
Norwich City vs Tottenham Hotspur (Sunday, 16:00)
Tottenham Hotspur will set out to confirm their place in next season’s Champions League when they travel to Norwich City on Sunday afternoon.
I’ve covered this contest in more detail in a separate match preview but I’m also going to factor this fixture into the second half of my recommended selection for this column.
Antonio Conte’s side head into their final match of the campaign with their fate in their own hands and they have an ideal fixture as they attempt to stamp their ticket to Europe’s top table next term.
Norwich have endured yet another forgetful season in the top-flight and the already-relegated Canaries should offer little resistance against a far superior Spurs side.
Dean Smith’s side have slumped to defeat in 25 of their 37 league outings this season, including 11 of their last 14, and their final fixture of the season is likely to be an all too familiar story.
Tottenham, on the other hand, have triumphed in nine of their last 13 league games and they should make no mistake in the final stage of their mission to secure a top-four finish.
